Seems Jaap Stam may be going to Milan.. probably Milan doesn't need him though
Wanna bet?!?

Ages:
Caf - 33
Costacurta - 37
Maldini - 35
Pancaro - 33
Laursen - 28 (but plays like a 45 year old)

Stam may be only a couple years younger than these guys, but if (when) we do sign him he will only be at Milan for 2 years, making him 33 when he leaves. He's still in the highest class of defenders.

Maldini is a good example of age not being a factor - at 35 he remains our most reliable player, IMO should have won Ballon d'Or last year (and hopefully this year).

Laursen is an absolute joke of a defender.. whenever either Nesta/Maldini are out injured/suspended he fills in, and we usually end up conceeding a goal or 5 because of his antics.

And with Stam we can play a 3 man backline. imagine:

Stam---Nesta---Maldini

the three best defenders on the planet all in the same team...

Ashley Cole will be completely dominated like a gay german in a bondage movie by Figo on the right.

Joe Cole will be completely dominated " " " " " " " " by Costinha/Beto/Petit (or whoever Scolari picks) in the holding midfield. And if he ever squirms his way thru then Ricardo Carvalho should have little trouble disposing of him.

VAMOS PORTUGAL... SEMPRE O VERMELHO E VERDE

PROBABLE STARTING LINEUPS:

Portugal: (4-5-1)
Ricardo; Fernando Couto, Ricardo Carvalho, Rui Jorge, Paulo Ferreira; Costinha, Petit, Rui Costa, Luis Figo, Simo Sabrosa; Pauleta

England: (4-4-2)
David James; Gareth Southgate, John Terry, Phil Neville, Ashley Cole; Nicky Butt, Frank Lampard, David Beckham, Paul Scholes; Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney

hmmmmmmmmmmmm... i predict a 2-1 for Portugal

(Pauleta, Costinha) - (Lampard)

well it ended up being 1 - 1, i watched most the match and the aussies pretty much dominated the match until the last 20 mins or so. looked like they lacked the presence out wide especially when lazaridis went off.

and 1 - 1 portugal and england, of all people ledley king scores.

dont exaggerate on how good thery are

their just plain shit
hmmmm... told ya not to underestimate them.. ;)

playing a south american side on south american soil is tough, no matter the team, as represented by todays result and 2002 loss to Uruguay 3-0...

I would have hoped for more from the Portugal-England game.. although a draw is fair enough.. but Ledley King scoring??? ...

looks like he shall retire.. no big deal.. he didn't score for 5 YEARS or something before that Ireland game anyway..

i dont blame him for not turning up.. i wouldn't play for Australia..
