Hmm, I believe that those who feel the need to be proud of their achievements and show that they've done well for themselves have a right to it.

I'm NOT saying that it's a good show of character when they do so, but rather that:

To each, their own.

I don't think it's going to change so one might as well accept the fact and have one's own opinion on it (bad, in your case), but not to try and change it.

The decision to be modest should be made for themselves and if they chose not to be modest, then fine. They can be arrogant to those who believe as you do.

Just let it go because in the end, the one that loses anything over it is you =]
