i just found these forums and wow im glad to have finally found a place where students follow stuff liek this

IMO these laws are a disgrace and to any of you people out there that can use the melb g20 riots as an excuse you clearly wernt there, sure afew of the anarchist groups got out of hand BUT so did the police, and the police did alot more human damage (for gods sake the mueseum was a police riot!) the media just forgot to mention that part

same thing with the supposed dick cheney riots earlier this year, that was just plane and simple police brutality, its all good for you to type "o yea im glad those dam hippies are dying" from the safety of your computer but youll never know what it feels like to have a girl who is no bigger than your little cousin in size (given i come from a large family and thios girl though petite was in her late teens early 20s) fall unconscious in your arms because shes been hit across the face by some cop who is now laughing about it

Besides last time i checked there was no law against demonstarting and voicing your opinion in a democracy... o wait yes there is (BS anti terror laws)

lmao yes so true seriously these laws are almost ignoring the fact that we live in a democracy we have the right to protest ...people shouldnt be labelled anarchists and communists (not that theres anything wrong with that) just for taking action against the brutal laws these governernments have enforced. APEC shouldnt even be held in sydney, we have a capital city for that sort of thing and canberra is a much harder target anyway for so called "terrorists".
The police presence and the violence they are "lawfully" allowed to use just gives people a reason to react and be violent. Its a bloody cotradiction using violence to counteract violence.
Its so narrow minded to say protesting doesnt achieve anything because history will tell us otherwise. Its the anarchists, socialists, communists and unionists who have helped bring about the rights we have today people seem to forget this. where would women stand now if it werent for the suffragette movements, and what did they do, they protested, they fought, they were arrested and they were killed but they won. Let people prove their point, or at least attempt to without liberties and rights being obliterated.

Speaking from experience, I can assure you that the police that are dispatched to deal with protestors are very trigger happy with regards to any power they're given.
