So I heard that only 50 or so people receive a band 5 for std english last year and barely a few receive band 6. Is it because most people in standard are not dedicated to the subject. I'm really doing ok with this subject with my rank being 4/119. With hard work and that rank, is it possible to achieve band 5 or 6 for this subject with same dedication to all my other subjects because I do not really want to focus all of my attention to english because I really dislike english. Do you guys think I should ask to move to advanced english or just stay in standard as I do not like english at all?

Suggestions???

1. Always try to be in Advanced whenever possible.
2. About 5% of students get Band 5, around 50 students get Band 6, it's definitely possible to get Band 5.

The reason is that Standard English and Advanced English are reported on the same scale.

So obviously the Standard English people are going to be dragged down because all the Advanced kids are taking up the higher marks.

Nah, you won't get a band 6 unless you're first at your school or unless your school is known to get band 6s in standard because for standard it all depends on the teaching because it's usually taught shit and doing stuff on your own can only get you so far.
