taken from the board of studies

"In 2001 the Board of Studies NSW determined that student performance in the Higher School Certificate would be reported in relation to standards (or levels of achievement). Students now receive marks that relate to performance bands, where each band is described in a statement summarising the knowledge, skills and understanding typically demonstrated by students who have achieved that standard.

The Standards Package CD-ROMs contain the descriptions of the standards for HSC courses, examination papers and marking guidelines, certain key statistical reports, and samples of responses typically produced by students whose achievements place them on the borderline between two bands."

apparently they have 'set the standards' and so do not need them. i think that's risiculous because the packages were also the answers to the papers.

they may have taken some of them off the site because i think they have been asked to because of copywrite

The standards packages always freaked me out anyway.. my answers for questions were not nearly half as detailed as the band 3/4 responses. :p

i know, i think someone posted one of the band 1/2 frontline responses up here last year.... it was hilarious, it was only one and a half pages long (and you know how little space there is on one page), the entire thing was in one paragraph (no punctuation), horrible grammar, and he called the main character "mike munro"

there havent been any major changes to the syllabus (except english aos, but we cant get responses to that anyway cuz it wasnt done last year) so they should be the same

Me.

The purpose of the standards package is to show the 'standard' of a typical band 1/2/3/4/5/6 response.

The reason this was released in 2001/2002 was because the new HSC syllabus was implemented and student's didn't know what type of 'standards' were expected for the HSC exam.

These standards are released the following year to allow preceding students to see what of answers they need to put in their exams.

It's 2004 now and teachers/students now have a better idea of what is expected of them with this new syllabus and thus more standard's package are not required.

I feel sorry for the students who sat for the very first HSC exam for which the new syllabus was introduced...
