surprised there isnt a thread on this.

Neway who are u guys goin for this year? I reckon it will be a really close series as both sides have strengths in different areas, like QLD have the best halves but NSW have an awsome forward pack. I dont think they should've picked Greg Inglis on wing cause like Gould said on the Sunday Footy Show fullbacks at wing dont really work.

Your thoughts?

I'd say NSW by 12 as well. They do have a stronger team, I don't think Queensland has much of a chance. Here's a list of the players selected, for those who haven't heard:

NSW Blues
Fullback: Brett Hodgson (Tigers)
Wing: Matt King (Storm)
Centre: Mark Gasnier (Dragons)
Centre: Matt Cooper (Dragons)
Wing: Timana Tahu (Eels)
Five Eighth: Braith Anasta (Roosters)
Half Back: Craig Gower (Panthers)
Front Row: Willie Mason (Bulldogs)
Hooker: Danny Buderus (c) (Knights)
Front Row: Brent Kite (Sea Eagles)
Second Row: Nathan Hindmarsh (Eels)
Second Row: Steve Simpson (Knights)
Lock: Luke O’Donnell (Cowboys)

Interchange:
Craig Wing (Roosters)
Steve Menzies (Sea Eagles)
Mark O’Meley (Bulldogs)
Andrew Ryan (Bulldogs)

QLD Maroons
Fullback: Matt Bowen (Cowboys)
Wing: Greg Inglis (Storm)
Centre: Justin Hodges (Broncos)
Centre: Brent Tate (Broncos)
Wing: Steven Bell (Sea Eagles)
Five Eighth: Darren Lockyer (c) (Broncos)
Half Back: Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys)
Front Row: Steven Price (Warriors)
Hooker: Cameron Smith (Storm)
Front Row: Petero Civoniceva (Broncos)
Second Row: David Stagg (Broncos)
Second Row: Matthew Scott (Cowboys)
Lock: Dallas Johnson (Storm)

Interchange:
Shaun Berrigan (Broncos)
Carl Webb (Cowboys)
Sam Thaiday (Broncos)
Nate Myles (Bulldogs)

You gotta be jokin, the majority of the QLD side is made up of players from 3 of the top 4 NRL clubs (broncos, cowboys, storm)

EDIT: btw cooper is out and growth is in.

Yeah, but (at least in my opinion) they aren't the absolute best on their respective teams. And, as was mentioned before, Queensland's team isn't as offensive as NSWs, and as NSW has a very strong team, even a good defense won't be enough to hold them back. But hey, we'll see. :)

QLD have the superior backs while NSW have the superior forwards IMHO.

the inexperienced QLD forward pack has to step up for this match (the NSW forwards do have 5 kangaroos in the forwards compared to QLD's single kangaroo and kiwi reps). NSW have got to work on their combinations in the backs, it'll be hard filling joey's shoes now that he's gone.

gonna be a great game though, close one too, i'd say 6-8 points either way :)

Queensland have the stronger team. NSW's only area of clear dominance is in the second row.

Whilst the Maroons have never won at Telstra Stadium before, I reckon it's going to change.

Queensland 28 vs 16 New South Wales
