Hello all,

My name is James, I'm in Year 10. I would like to study Physiotherapy at USYD in 2013 (after taking a gap year in 2012 - the year that the world supposedly ends)... will my subjects cover me for the assumed knowledge in a roundabout way?

They recommend Chem and Phys as assumed knowledge and they also recommend 2U Math. My subjects are in my sig.

Thanks for the advice,

James

The only thing that may cover you is 2U Maths. You'll have to do bridging courses for the rest or get left behind.

Physics is probably a must.

You have an awkward sub selection for physio lol.

P.D.H.P.E will help you. Keep bio, p.e, adv maths and adv english. They should scale you up to get the ATAR.
Just do a bridging course before uni, just to make sure you can understand what they're talking about in your classes.

Haha, I kinda agree with the second point that it's an awkward subject selection.

But i mean if you like your subject and you'll ace them in the HSC who am I to say anything

Agreed. Where does Italian come into the scenario? You should replace that with a subject that may help you in grasping physio later on.

o and lmao at the 2012 reference
you gonna watch the movie btw? XDD
they should release it on the day the Mayan Calender predicts the end of the world.
just sounds cool.

He wants to be a literate in Australian - Italian, that specialises in Physiotherapy.

isn't it a bit late to be contemplating subjects anyway?
i believe that if you're going to go towards anything science based, you should have chemistry
it is the 'core' science.
perhaps if you're aiming towards physio you do not need to do hosp.

That's okay; catching up would be fun AS... chips (lol, bastardized simile 'cheap as chips'!!) ... anyways; that's good to know. I actually LIKE Chem... I just found that Higher School Cert. Chem is quite boring (I tried to read Prelim text COnquering Chemistry Yr 11 from page 1... so ... interesting and boring all the same time, like a chocolate mousse cake presented poorly by an amateur baker, who's just starting out...) but meh.

Physics contains a SMALL amount of Chem anyways (in real world, a HUGE amount of Chem - that is - HSC Physics course are designed as a broad introduction and are not indicative of what Phys is really like (very very mathematical at Universities). BTW Physics DCH (duckcowhybrid) is much more important for Physio than maths 2U and Chem Physio IS ABOUT CONCEPTS, like HSC Physics....

LOL at the misinformed innocent 15-year-old kid!! :) Kidding, love

NO, you dumbass, don't you talk to the Curriculum Coordinator???

It's not "TOO LATE" (ooh no oh dear it's too fucking late ahahahahaha) to change subject way later (Term 1, Week 4 of Year 11 2010, you ignormaus)..

I am sorry if I have insulted your non-existent ignorance and it's just your school that is misinformed and not you. :)

Edit: your chemistry teacher has misinformed you TOO!

Physics is the 'core' science (actually; "the fundamental science"

It goes ('core' OR best (hardest) to worse (easiest) *BTW this is NOT my opinion, it's accepted in all scientific communities in the WORLD:

Mathematics (yes maths is a science surprise surprise; get used to it!);
Physics;
Chemistry;
Astronomy;
Biology;
Geology.

OR

Maths informs Physics informs Chem inform Astro informs Bio informs Geo.

Edit: A LOT of people refer to Phys as 'applied math' Chem is 'applied Phys' Astro is 'applied Phys+Chem Biology is 'applied Astro' and Geology is 'applied Biology+Astronomy (this is a technicality, Astro has only a relatively small amount to do with Geo).

FINAL EDIT
DON'T NEED TO DO HOSPO??? Are you FUCKING kidding me girlfriend, lol?? Hospo is best fucking subject ever!! Who wouldn't want o have COOKING the funniest chemistry disciple ever ... COUNT TO THEIR ATAR!!

Again I'm sorry for ridiculing you but you're so naive that the eskimoes could sell ice to YOU ... jks.

Anyways good luck for HSC!

LOL I know-ay?

But you see, I just did what my school (MCK: Marian College Online ) told me to do!

"Pick the subjects you like; disregard scaling James, because it doesn't matter if you do well, which you most likely will (if you put your 'head down and bum up')." :)

So I picked PD/H/PE because I have topped the THEORY class for four solid years in a ROW ... and I picked Science because I LOVE SCIENCE (L) and then I picked up two units of Eng. (I love creative writing), I picked up Hospo because it's my favourite subject (i.e. cooking without the tedious Chemistry of cooking, which you get in FT), Maths because it's a "req'd subject" (not really if you have the discipline to do maths at home, which I do, but only when I feel like it) and then 1 unit RE ... I forget my other subject... because i've studied Italian for four years straight; Continuers (+extension in Yr 12) was the natural choice! :)

LOL well maybe they don't seem so awkward now?

HAHAHAHAHA

You actually do not know me at all do you? Ok, here's a few facts:

1. I do 7 creative units. That's 3U English (I did consider 4U and was accepted except it was too much work), Economics, and Modern History. I am top 30 for both 2U and 3U English, I was 1st in the Economics exam(4th overall), and I was 3rd in the Modern exam, 2nd overall. In Modern and Eco I achieved 78/80 and 98/100 repectively, and keep in mind, that for Modern, 76 Marks were essays, and for Eco, 60 marks were essays. That's a lot of essays. I prepared nothing for either exam and still managed to churn out 19/20-20/20 essays consistently. That's not rote learning. That's the Duckcowhybrid Brilliance. My English is undoubtedly one of my strongest subjects, so I do not suck at English.

2. I think very fucking abstractly. My 3U English short story was about the Berlin Wall, from the perspective of the wall itself. Have you ever thought of that? I think not, so don't get lippy you pretentious twat. I have never rote learnt ANYTHING, so I dunno where you're coming from there.

3. You're so dumb, you read the Year 11 Chem Textbook to find out about HSC Chem, newsflash, you don't need Year 11 Chem at all. And I'm probably dropping Chem anyways, so guess what? 7/11 of my units are essayish creative subjects. WOW I THINK THAT IMPLIES NOT ROTE LEARNING

4. You haven't illustrated SHIT to me about how to learn. You've just been talking out of your arse about how your school is the greatest thing since sliced bread and how you're better than everybody else. You aren't, so plug that arse up to stop it from talking (not like your mouth will be much better).

5. I don't do Physics and have no idea whats in the course, so obviously I would be saying 2U Maths would be beneficial because it is. At that point you had selected Bio, not Physics, so as such, the only subject at that point that would have helped would have been 2U Maths, Obviously now that you have Physics that will cover you even better.

6. I will succeed in 4U Maths regardless of what you say, because unlike you, I can back up what I say with results. Off one line from me your created a whole paragraph of bullshit, and problem is unlike English there are no quotes and techniques, and unlike History there are no sources or historians backing up your claims. Think before you talk.

In addition, the rest of your posts have shown what a retard you are, and it is in fact you that is the ignoramus Mr James Schofield, because it is you that has no fucking clue and can't think abstractly. You're an arrogant, misinformed, ignorant, inbred, redneck Year 10 moron with a 9 metre pole shoved up his arse. How about I take that pole out, take my size 10 boot, turn it sideways and shove that right up your arse so that you shut up. Your bum is up in the air at al time and your head is down in the sand, so why do I have to put up with that disgusting smell coming from the farts created when you talk out of our arse. Get a life fuckhead. Learn about what you are saying before you talk, don't make retarded assumptions and above all stop acting like you're the only correct person in this world.

To Schoey93, Duckcowhybrid is just trying to help and there was no need to criticise his demeanour nor school. However you took it the wrong way and ironically doing 3U English must have some form of abstractive ambience to it. Lets just digress from this notion all together.

don't ask questions if you're going to dismiss them then.
No i do not speak to my Curriculum Coordinator as she would suggest me doing some dumb subject such as hospitality as it may 'help me get a job'
Look at the University of Sydney's science booklet and you will see it says chemistry plus either physics or biology.
You should have also contemplated your subjects before just thinking 'oh its ok i can change next year' even though the class you want to transfer may already be full or on another line.

Good luck in learning how to make curled celery, I'm sure you'll need it doing physio and it is sure to make a positive contribution to your ATAR!!!!!

It's tongue in cheek. I use all those expressions continuously in school and it's fine because they know it's a bit of tongue in cheek arrogance. I'd be disgusted if anyone seriously took themselves to be any of those names.
