related texts for imaginative journeys! :D

hi everyone, wow this is pretty funky... thank god for the internet.

i've just started year 12 english and we're doing coleridge as our prescribed texts for the area of study: the imaginative journey. so far we've done the lime tree bower my prison, kubla khan and the rime of the ancient mariner.

for our related texts we've been watching big fish in class but we can choose others. i'd really like to do the matrix as a related text but from what i've seen so many people have done it and the markers are looking for something outstanding. any ideas from past work you've done or seen?

also how many of you chose a video game as your imaginative journey? i was thinking the legend of zelda but perhaps that's more of a physical journey? other than that the best fallback is alice in wonderland or donnie darko? again, any general ideas?

good luck to everyone doing their hsc right now, btw :D

another really good and helpful supp text for imaginative journeys is
the film

Endless Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

really links to the Tempest well particularly with the character Prospero.

I found that Spirited Away was interesting to do,
as well as a short story from one of the best science fiction writers, Peter F. Hamilton

Try his works, His "Second Chance at Eden" Book with the Novella and short stories was actually quite good.

I was thinking about doing the film Amelie as my related rext to coleridge and also the road not taken by frost.
Are these related to imaginative journeys...

and also, what about Sylvia plath's poem "mirror"... i dont exactly know whether this is imaginagtive, but it sounds like it.
any suggestions would be GREATY appreciated.

Thanks!! ♥

Help?

Hey guys!

I was hoping someone could help me out with Imaginative Journey. I have to find 5 texts and analyse them by showing how the text is linked to Imaginative Journey. It must be creative and not boring - teachers orders :/

thanks =)

For a song, Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" is awesome.
It fits really nicely into the imaginative journey module, plus there's plenty of symbolism and imagery to talk about. And it's an amazing song too.
