ok, i dont use 'real' money that much any more, most things i use eftpos, but i was just wondering how much money people usually take to uni with them? coz i dont want to be carrying zillions of dollars around, but i dont want to be hunting around for an atm for a purchase of a couple of dollars

Unless you wanted to give me some, hehehe... ;)

I wouldn't imagine you'd need more than the cost of food for the day, and transport, and maybe a little spare. $30 sounds about right.

i've spent like 20 a day on food during long days..
sometimes we have dinner in the city.. but the reality is.. the more you bring, the more you tend to spend.

My advice is to bring as little as possible, not so much in case it gets stolen, but because then you are less likely to waste it!

in her undies, wtf? :p
I sometimes bring along an old wallet that I don't use anymore if I am going somewhere where the mugging risk seems higher than normal, so I can hand that over instead of my normal wallet. I just put like 5 bucks in there and a few coins, a few meaningless cards so it looks like I actually use it, and voila!

check the uni for atm's, most have them around the place and one might be very conveniently placed if you are lucky

It seems as though Butterfly_Wings is the only person who has considered the next to no money option... You are a university student. Being cheap is to be expected.

I will probably be taking $20 each day in case I need it but I probably won't spend it. I will be just packing my lunch to save money (and not get fat). Imagine how much it would cost to buy lunch and a drink every day:).

but what if she forgot her money in her undies and put it through the wash?

butterfly wings - so with your old wallet, you carry 2 wallets with you?

and iw as thinking of bringing like $10 a day. - $5 for bus, and $5 for whatever. it might be worth bringing more than that now that i think about it. but i didn't need to bring money to school

Yep, a real and 'fake' one. So you just hand over the wrong one should something arise. (I've never had to fortunately)
This is only if I need to be carrying lots of money on me in the first place...if I only need to be taking 5 or 10 bucks anyway then the 2nd wallet loses all meaning.

unless you have all your cards in your second wallet, then even with small amounts of money there is a lot of meaning!

what i do is that i put my important cards, and most of my money in my bag...and the rest i keep it in my wallets...its not bcoz, i'm scared of being mugged- but bcoz, i've lost my wallet a few times. :mad1:
