i did this last year, so i'll tell you what i used.
might give you some ideas.

* a few good men (film)
"you want the truth? ....YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

lol ... examiners see it year in, year out, i believe :p

* children overboard scandle,
you'll find lots of articles in the SMH and newspapers
archives, etc (online)
classroom.smh.com.au if your school is a subscriber.
otherwise, just use ours :D :D

school: patrician brothers' college fairfield
password: pbcf1

that's about all i used,
children overboard scandal +supporting newspaper articles
you'll find some good stuff on the war on iraq if you want to use that, the truth, the need for un-inspections, telling the truth and all.

but it cracks me up when i write "you cant handle the truth!!!" in essays... hehe :)

Also, I don't think it matters what texts you do, just as long as you do them well! Even if the examiners have seen those texts used a hundred times before, they can't mark you down for it!!!!!

can i just make sure, u have to have a minimum of 1 related text for telling the truth, right? (i mean, for Trials, but for HSC its at least 2)

also, does anyone know where i can find the script for the movie Basic? starrs john travolta, and samuel L. jackson..

this module is so stupid.. all these related texts are mainly for Frontline i assume.

our class is doing Birthday Letters, by ted hughes, and all our related texts have to be specifically about the relationship between Ted and Sylvia Plath, or something to do with that, we cant just have texts to talk about truth in itself

Historiography texts (the writing and accuracy of history) are good. Also songs that look at deception, lying, and especially the ones where you find out the person was telling the truth all along.

Do you think the film Drop Dead Gorgeous would be a good supplementary text to go with frontline? It uses a "mockumentary" style format like frontline, and reveals the truth about American Beauty Pagents. Do you think this would be a good related text or is it too superficial?

a brilliant text to use is "Media" by John Butler Trio
thats what im using as one of mine
check out the lyrics-

What you watch, what you read
What you percieve is to be truth
It is all so subjective
So what you believe is up to you

But what are we to believe in
Between the lies and the truth? Youth
Media has vested interest
So what you believe is up to you.

But how are we to make sense of these turbulent times
When all they do is censor our minds
Only telling what they want us to know
Only half of the story told

So what is wrong? What is right?
No truth can there be seen
Well it's all there in your new religion
Just turn on your TV screen

Watch the sex and drugs and all that violence
Look what they are feeding you
Propaganda yes indeed its,
its all there to confuse

But how are we to make sense of these turbulent times
When all they do is brainwash our minds
Only telling what they want us to know
Only half of the story told

And if the truth can't be found
I'll find my own underground
And if the truth is never to be seen
I'll find my own in between

What you watch, what you read
What you percieve is to be truth
It is all so subjective
So what you believe is up to you

But what are we to believe in
Between the lies and the truth? Youth
Media has vested interest
So what you believe is up to you.
You know its up to you
Don't believe the lies, read between the lines,
Don't believe the lies, critically analyse

yeah I've got plenty. I'm using Desert Angel (Frontline- not on the syllabus), two pop songs about truth and breaking relationships, and a historeography textbook.

its kind of....frowned upon...to use texts that are in the year 11 or junior skool syllabus (or those from standard if you do advanced)
