I am looking up the details of the texts I need (as listed on the co-op site), but will probably purchase them somewhere else.
However, before I buy them from a different site, I want to make sure it is the exact same book.

What is the ISBN number? If two books have the same ISBN number, does that mean they are EXACTLY the same? I thought it would, but I found two books, with the same number, but were different editions.

Speaking of editions, what would Edition 03E02 mean?

Thanks :)

as soon as you find the texts for your subjects you notice they are hyper linked click the link and it will show you all the other details.

for example the screen should look like this after you clicked the hyperlinked title of your book http://www.coop-bookshop.com.au/boo..._next_page_=GetSingleBook&_key_=9780455221113
That's what I have been doing.
My questions is about ISBN numbers and the knowing what edition it is. For example: is Edition 03E02 - 3rd edition (2002) or 2nd edition (2003) or something completely different?

Hey,

As I posted in another thread a while back ISBN stands for International Standard Book number and every edition or version of a book will have a different ISBN. Reprints of the same book do not have a different ISBN however, though a modified reprint should. So if they have the same ISBN they should be essentially the same, with perhaps a different cover for reprints and the like...

Thanks guys. :)

Here's something though:

"Crime and Justice: A Guide to Criminology" from Co-op:
ISBN: 0455222568
Edition: 03E05 --> 3rd edition, published in 2005
http://http://www.coop-bookshop.com.au/bookshop?basket_name=2820820&user_id=1139748437704&_frames_=no&_next_page_=GetSingleBook&_key_=9780455222561

"Crime and Justice: A Guide to Criminology" from Lawbooks.com.au:
ISBN: 0455222568
Edition: 2
Published: 2006
http://http://www.lawbooks.com.au/store/lawbooks.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=132203

They have the same ISBN, but are supposedly different editions, published in different years. :S

Too late :p

I think Lawbooks may have just made a mistake. It's the same cover, same ISBN and exactly same description.
If it is the wrong book, I won't be the only idiot who got it, hey Mel? :)

ty for that handy bit of info.

heh i remember going to the UNSW info day, and they had a board where people had stuck up a paper with the names of the books they were selling. i was like "no, sorry. that is worse than getting ripped off on Ebay."
