Re: The Official Cricket Thread

i felt apprehensive when i heard Shaun marsh was playing.

i like him but its clear he is out of form and the australian selectors should have left him out.
It's 20-20 nobody cares, he was probably played precisely because he is out of form, let him continue to face international bowling in meaningless mickey mouse games so by the time real cricket starts up again he might have dug himself out of the rut somewhat.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

still beat us by 8 wickets (royally owned)

lol australia probably gave them a chance because if india lost this match as well after the test series embarrassment and the first 20/20, they'd all get lynched when they got back home.

probably australia or sri lanka imo are solid one day sides

although (and this is a bit far-fetched I admit) if pakistan can cease the corruption shit going on in their cricket and actually do away with the inconsistency, they can be a dark horse contender. They made short work of England in the Test series recently (and England are No. 1 in tests) and usually Pakistan performs better in one day than tests. Plus Saeed Ajmal is probably the best spinner in the world atm

You get less idiots in the crowd when the home nation isn't playing I've noticed. Then again some people seem to think the appeal of live sport is the idiots.

i cant see australia not being in the final. especially considering the strength of their one day team. and by then Watson, Cummins, Pattinson could be back so that would make them even better.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

IPL teams are businesses, these auctions are not simply about getting good players but building up a popular franchise. You'll notice RP Singh was bought for 600 grand but nobody even made a bid on James Anderson, local favourites will pull crowds etc. It's like if Australia had a competition people would probably be a lot more excited about Mitchel Johnson then they would Stuart Broad even though the latter has established himself as a much better international cricketer in recent years.
