i have no idea who those people are but anyway,
movies with explosions and violence and the like are great movies.

all the reviews say it abadons its interesting premise quickly into the film and turns into the ridiculous explosion-fest that we've come to expect from michael bay.

it was a huge box-office flop in the US, so hopefully he's been affected by that. easily one of the worst directors working today.

Michael Bay is also known for his car-chase scenes. And yes this was a huge flop in the US first week.

The Island: 1 Week 12.4mil (15.7 Internationally)
Cost to make: $132.4 mil

The only reason to watch this movie - Scarlett Johansson

That's basically my brothers kind of movie. When he watches dvd's he skips through the talking bits because he wants to see the action. And any movie with a plot he hates.

Micheal Bay is the director. He's the man responsible for the stupidly-plotted Armageddon (Ben Affleck allegedly asked him "Wouldn't it be easier for NASA to train astronauts to become drillers rather than for them to train drillers to be astronauts?") and Bad Boys II which seemed to be an excuse to destory as many sports cars and baots as possible.

Jerry Bruckheimer is the man who usually pays to have Bay make these movies. But he's not producing this one (for the first time) so hopefully it'll be good.
never seen Armageddon, and ive only seen half of Bad Boys ll.

Ebert gave it a decent review. He's got pretty good taste usually.

Apparently there's a sex scene that Scarlett Johansson wanted to do nude, but Michael Bay wouldn't let her because he wanted to keep it kiddy friendly :(

Michael Bay has to be one of the worst directors ever. There is no way i'm jumping up and down to see this, even if Scarlett Johansson's in it (who, is a favourite actress of mine).

I thought it wasnt that bad.

I really enjoyed it.

Movies are so subjective though. I like it, but thats my opinion.

it was better than i thought it would be, but it could've done without the half-hour-explosion-action-sequences.

And I didnt like those shooty thingos that went into the skin. That was just too much on the creepy factor.

Roger Ebert uses Pearl Harbour in his film classes to teach students how not to make a film.
