movie sounds like it will be crap though. the kid in the old one was genuinly scary

I have never seen the original, but I am tempted just by seeing the trailer. It looks genuinely boring on the outside, bringing in all the usual Satan crap, but the trailer was chilling, not by what is heard and seen but what isn't - it's that lack of noise, that eerie nothingness that is chilling. As a semi horror fan, I'm still waiting for a decent flick. Halloween IX would be good.

Yea i can tell by the trailer that the kid in this version doesnt look freaky at all. The kid in the original though was scary without even trying.

i went and saw this on tuesday and i thought it was heaps scary.
on the way home it was pouring with rain and a brach fell nearly smashed through my windscreen almost made me crash and then there was all this shit on my windscreen and my wipers were makin that horrible squeaking noise. That was terrifying. all on the 6-6-06.

Yeah i saw it on release date. was pretty good i thought. The director used a few cheap tricks for scares, like a sudden flash of a nightmare whilst blasting a loud sound. It got me a few times though, like with the dogs and when the nanny jumped on daddys back. Was a decent remake, the original nanny hanging herself was dubbed one of the most chilling scenes in cinema, and this remake honoured that scene beautifully, the kid himself was not genuinely scary enough, i got the impression he was more of a little twerp rather than a force to be reckoned with.

All the death scenes reminded me of the movie"final destination" and the sequels, and the ending was somewhat ubrupt as it was expected, yet the father was killed so quickly, i expected him to get maybe 1/2 of the knives in or something ]

anyways good movie all up
