HHmm i heard it wasnt good. But the actual movie is the best!

Though i really liked watching it on stage at star city.

Bert Newton is a much better crazed-pigeon-lover German than that guy in the new movie!

absolutely not! will ferrell played that part perfectly in my opinion. i think if they had seperate awards for supporting roles in comedy/drama films at the globes, my vote would have gone to him.

(and usually i dont find him all that funny)

i've seen the original movie (snooooze), the australian production @ star city and the new movie.

personally i think it translates best to the stage; i fucking LOVED the stage production and i thought it was all great. alleycat why didn't you like reg livermore? yeah nathan lane was *better* but still...

re: bert versus will ferrel.... i think they both did great jobs and played their roles perfectly. so ultimately i'm going to say i'm glad will was in the movie so i had the chance to see them both.

the main issue i had with the movie was that it did drag on.... not that the story wasn't interesting but the fact of the matter is while the stage production was longer you also had an intermission :p it didn't ruin the movie for me or anything though

ohhh and i luvved george from desperate housewives!! such a cack!

I liked it, but I had "Springtime for Hitler and Germany" stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
winter for Poland and France!

haha i liked this movie, dont go see it if you dont like musicals [ the title alone should be a warning " the producers" about broadway, hello?]
but i like musicals, lots of decent singing, and some pretty funny jokes, stuff only adults would get [ dont go see this if you are a 15 yr old girl, you wont understand the jokes] i laughed alot at some of the shit, the plot was a little basic, like they get busted WHOA didnt see that coming! the actual production was heaps funny, gay hitler screw ali G and keeping it real

KEEP IT GAY!

reg livermore basically performed as an exact copy of nathan lane in the broadway production all the way through the show. his voice especially, it just sounded so contrived. the best part of his performance was the "mini interlude" where he spoke to the audience directly while in jail. i liked it because he finally dropped the facade...

nathan lane had such a rapport with the audience, he held it almost single handedly the whole way through. hard to explain. i loved matthew broderick and cady huffman, but they were definately side-kicks to the part that seemed written for lane.

ahhh yeah i can sort of see what you mean, because i did notice while watching the movie that they were played VERY similarly. i don't know if you can call it 'contrived' per se, especially the voice; i mean uma thurman sounded exactly like, um, fuck, i can't remember her name. the girl in the australian production

chloe dallimore? yes, who in turn sounded precisely like cady huffman in the broadway rendition.

same with the assorted "bloom's", they all sounded like matthew broderick. i mean its one thing to respect another actors performance, but another story altogether to mimic voice and mannerisms...

and i have to say, the most original interpretation of a character in the movie was of franz by will ferrel.

the best thing about the australian theatrical version in my opinion was "roger du pris" and the assissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssstant. hahaha, they did it better than the original performers in my opinion.

many mixed opinions i see...i guess its either a u hate it OR u love it film, much like Absolutely Fabulous.

personally, i thought it was quite good - i do like musicals, particularly the songs that goes with it, although some songs are stupid like "you can do it" and "i cant do it", "im going to be a producer"...but thats typically normal for a musical. i havent seen the musical production personally, but i would prolly enjoy the production as much as i enjoyed the movie.

and yes, like many ppl, i got "springtime for hilter" and "keep it gay" stuck in my head...*ugh*

the bits in the end gave quite a laugh --> e.g. "south passaic" "death of a salesman...ON ICE" --> parodies of well-known musical productions.

well.. i went with my bf and although he didnt like the singing, we did have a good laugh with the hitler/ulla/jail scenes

"...DEETHF"
"Is it anything like death?"

and how they stuck their middle finger up during the oath ahahaha

"i have to go, it's nearly 11"

just the randomness of it all.. kept me quite entertained =]

i enjoyed it so muc.
I had heard mixed reviews about it and didnt know what to expect. I was so worried about Will Ferrel because I had just seen kicking and screaming and thought it was truly heinous but he did sooo well.
At the start i was just like what the heck is this it was so silly but in a funny way, but when the german guy came on a was laughing my head off. Maybe its to do with my holiday Modern History Homework or something but he did such a good job. Go the little slap dance. I was laughing embarrasly loud and i couldnt stop al the way through to the next scene with the yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss ssss guy and keep it gay. So So funny. I went with a guy friend and he had his head in his hands the whole gay scene. which made me laugh even more.
Uma as Ula did a good job although her accent lost it a little in the songs. Were all the singing voices the actual actors?
And those grannies. A little too much information but still damn funny.
I absolutley loved the accountant scene where they all do the typewriting at the same time. AWESOME i love uniformity! yay go it!
Well i laughed a lot. Yes im one of those people at the movies you love to hate
A brilliant film with jokes on so many levels.

LOL i was looking at that too and chuckled. It reminded me a bit of Frontline in the sense that Frontline parodied what current affairs shows usually talk about (ie. going after small fish who don't really affect us) and this was a reminder of those shows which just take existing shows which were once popular and modify them slightly to allow a rerun.
