The apology did not "in practice" unify Australia, or was not "in practice" respected by the people?
I think it was bizarre and patronising etc to claim that the apology got in the way of actually assisting a completely decimated people. Refusing to say sorry was a massive hinderance to any help being seen as legitimate and appreciated by these people.
