argh....
You, my friend, are very possibly the most arrigant son-of-a-*%#@* i have ever come across. Everyone on this forum is quite obviously struggling with the concept of English yet you blatantly belittle all of them for the sole purpose of increasing the size and weight of your head. May your HSC fall into the depths of disaster and may God have mercy on your pathetic soul.

p.s english sux

If it wasn't compulsory, it'd save my time so much.

what's the purpose of learning english? maths, and science has a use. software design, ipt and D&T has a use. the rest too.

then english shouldn't be named english, if it's purpose is to expand your mind. It's mixing a *little* bit of useful stuff and big part of useless bits.

poetry expands your mind, to a useless degree.

and the english teachers at my school is a total sadcase, one of them refusing a student's complaints by saying "this school's english is not that good anyways"

basically our school's english teachers just plain stupid, and dumb.

FYI it's Concord High School

and im not tellin my name. :D

I love English
What other subject do you get to sit around doing crosswords or reading the paper. Too bad there's that annoying person at the front going on about context or change or something, and that annoying person occasionally starts shouting because no one's listening. It's like she expects people to actually listen.

But apart from that, english is second only to IPT- only because there's computers and email in IPT.

Learning? What learning?

English as an HSC subject narrows one's mind - we are really only allowed to discuss an issue from one point of view - either that or be damned to low marks. It's focused on techniques, not really about the value of the text (except for 'Critical Study of Texts' which is heavily techniques-based).

Literature is wonderful. HSC English isn't.
