I don't mind it, actually.

Then again I also didn't mind the vuvuzelas at the 2010 WC while mostly everyone else was going "OMG PLS MAKE IT STOP"

Another possible Djoker vs Nadal SLAM FINAL!
Nadal is going to be tight!

I was so sad to see Federer lose but hey man, getting into a Semi-Finals can be just as hard as getting into a Finals at times (depending on the luck of the draws).
If it's Djoker vs Nadal, can we just say that Djoker is most likely going to smash Nadal? (The only guy ever to beat Nadal in all 6 encounters in just an entire year and never allowing Nadal to win in any encounter)

Re: The Official Tennis Thread

I have to say I'm rather disappointed we didn't have a fairytale run by a player this year à la Tsonga, Baghdatis etc.

I wish that men's tennis wasn't dominated by a top 4 (kind of like top-flight European football) as it makes things too predictable and the like. Of course I'm not taking anything away from players like Federer or Nadal as they play with such guile, but I like surprises in sport. To me, that's what makes it great to watch.

I will have to concede that and admit you're right there. If Andy Murray won, all would be forgiven.

That's why I prefer to watch women's tennis, because in terms of the rankings, it's inconsistent. Clearly, the 2012 Australian Open for the women is way more intense because either Sharapova or Azarenka will make #1 and receive a grand slam major, whereas the men, Djokovic will regardless stay #1 if he makes it to the final. While I love the Top 4, it was strikingly obvious who the final four were going to be after looking at the draw.

Re: The Official Tennis Thread

I said this at the start of the tournament that Azarenka will win the women's and Murray will win the men's.

I hope my predictions come to fruition.

I hope Murray wins (I wanted either Murray or Federer but sadly, Federer is out) but I want Sharapova in the Women's Final to win (she's the better grunter as well :tennisclap:)...

Re: The Official Tennis Thread

I would normally say Djokovic but Nadal have the upper edge in the final in terms of fitness and endurance now, unless Djokovic can recover in approx 43 hours And gain full capacity in his tank that saying nadal did it in 09..

Re: The Official Tennis Thread

I thought Murray was going to win in the end. His ground strokes and hitting were way more aggressive in the 5th set compared to Novak's. But nevertheless, Djokovic hung on to the end. Looking forward to the final.

Re: The Official Tennis Thread

Murray was so close. His performance was definitely a lot better this year & he had quite a smooth run. The switch to a new coach was a smart decision for him.

Djokovic vs. Nadal for the Men's final.
