I know that FINS1613 does scale at least a little in Sem 2. I don't think it scales at all in Sem 1 though

K bumping this up:

My PTRL courses for last semester (3rd year 2nd semester) actually had some scaling involved to my surprise.

On the other hand:

MATH2121 - No scaling, sum of your raw marks;
MATH3821 - Didn't scale up a lot iirc.

Anyone know if the FINS2624 Midterm has any scaling. Highly doubt it since the LIC doesn't seem like the type who would scale. :(

FINS1612 - Only quiz 2 was scaled to a credit average, nothing else was scaled.
FINS2624 - No scaling.
ACTL2111 - Midsem was scaled up by 5, overall marks were scaled as "necessary".
ACTL2131 - Midsem was also scaled up by 5, "Very minor" scaling for the overall marks according to the LIC.

To be really honest, theres not much scaling that goes on at unsw, at least nothing like school style (which is a common misconception hsc students bring into uni). I'd say about 95% of all the subjects I've done have been the total of what I got.

Excessive scaling implies poor assessments or poor marking standards. There shouldn't be too much scaling.

So, the other form of scaling is to modify the marking criteria to ensure only a certain number of students can get a certain grade or that more students achieve a higher grade. This is what normally occurs, with many courses being lenient in marking.

Emailed this semester's (Sem 1 of 2016) LIC for FINS1613, who said the average overall mark for the FINS1613 course was in the mid level credit range and more importantly, no scaling was applied to the final exam as well as all other marks relevant to the course.

How's the scaling with MATH2931 (Higher Linear Models) with Libo Li as the lecturer?

Does anyone have past papers?
