Wes Anderson, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Darren Aranofsky, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Ang Lee-, Quentin Tarantino, Baz Luhrmann, Peter Jackson, Sofia Coppola, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Richard Kelly, Michael Moore (although have to agree, totally different style to the others), Sam Mendes, Guy Richie, Alexander Payne, Frank Darabont, Gore Verbinski, Peter Weir, Brian Singer and I actually liked Zach Braff.

oh yeah, and the shawshank redemption is massively overrated. it's not bad, and i usually watch the whole thing everytime it pops up on tv, but the only really powerful section is brooks' narrated story of his time after he gets out of prison. the rest is pretty ordinary feelgood stuff.

i liked romeo and juliet
moulin rouge was too self conscious (which is weird, i usually love high self consciousness - i even liked 'a heartbreaking work of staggering genius' [a dave eggers book everyone should read])
but yeah.
colourful, energetic and kinda clever - yeah.
but if you're going to sum it up in a word, then it must be 'wank'
