I find that really offensive. I went to a private school, but my UAI was not "bought". I worked my ass off, and that's what my UAI reflects.

The lists are always different due to the methods used.

Daily Telegraph calculates the student credits IN COMPARISON to the number of students. It's highly arguable that this is a much fairer system.

The SMH does not take school size into account. I find this less fair as a a larger school where 40 of its students do very well and the other 100 do average/below average will appear equal or on occasion, higher on the list than the smaller school of 40 where everyone does very well.

On a completely but slightly not unrelated note, GO HORNSBY GIRLS!!! :D:D:D:D *cheer*

If you notice North Sydney Boys has the same ranking on both lists (9th).

I think this is the case because it has an average amount of students. (Correct me if I am wrong)

The SMH ranking is completely stuffed. It just counts the number of subjects in which over 90 per cent has achieved. So, schools with big candidatures do better. I think they need to divide the number of students sitting the exam into the number of distinctions achieved.

Also, the English table and the maths table are different. In English all students are listed in the first column. In maths, only students who achieved over 90 per cent are listed.

What is the matter with journalists? Maybe they never did any maths or stats at school.

Edit: the SMH apologised today 21st DEcember for misleading information. The Telegraph is the bible, man.
