The word limit is death - esp. coz like headings and footnotes - pretty much argument irrelevant stuff - takes up heaps...

Also, lol, I have no idea if I'm doing it right... haha... I think I've re-invented the law of torts... I seem to be doing it in my own little world!

It's barely been mentioned in class...not like at school where like in class we'd always be talking about the assignment coming up!

That's one thing about uni assignments. You research, interpret and apply. You take risks with the assignment, and they can either make or break you. But you should be fine. I feel I am getting the same vibe in my progress.

just a reminder to everyone and anot to those who didnt go to this week's seminar -

footnotes DO NOT count in the wordcount if they are purely reference related ie citations. They will be counted however, if they start discussing the content of the answer.

Headings do count in the word count

Have fun everyone :p

Thank u muchly.

That'll make things a bit betta.

Have u dealt with each 'tort' like separately...

coz i've started my footnotes like at 1 for each diff. tort coz i'm doin' 'em on a separate page!

It's good to see that the footnote references are not included, I have 300 words in my footnotes.

best advise i can give without heading into plaigiarism areas is to read thru the torts reader - there's a few example responses there.

Might be an idea to do like i did - wrote up just in point form what each tort/defence/remedy requires etc eg 1- direct 2 - intentional or negligent etc and then go thru the assignment and just slot each action into these points and that'll make it easiesty to outline each:)

I just spent the last hour reducing the words to exactly 2000 words and 12 footnotes. Anyone end up with conclusions and remedies being only like 50 words and 4-5 lines long?

When Susan said about citing references to only where you have go your info, can you also include the case details as well?

E.g.

This is shown in Cowell v Rosehill Racecourse Co Ltd 1

1(1937) 56 CLR 605; H. Luntz and D. Hambly , Torts: Cases and Commentary, 5th edition, Lexis Nexis Butterworths, 2002, p 774

Also, I've read in Stumkce (sp?) that you only reference to information from other's but not those which are common sense. Do we have to cite where did we get the info from for the definition of trespass? like Luntz, Bulkins etc..

if you've quotes a definition, yes, but if you're just stating elements i'm not sure - might be an idea to email/call n ask:)

My grammar has gone like out the window in trying to cut it down. Haha.

So wish we could write in like sms language. I'm still ova and honestly, it's like at its bare minimum. No idea how I'll scrap more.
