new camry looks nice I reckon!

Aurion front reminds me of mazda 6/audi
And apparently the fuel usage was more than toyota said.

edit:

wikipedia said:
Toyota has confirmed that the Toyota Aurion will carry only a six-speed automatic transmission throughout the entire range, with no manual transmission option.

No manual? =\ That's dodgy. I actually want the Toyota Camry with the TRD engine and the Sportivo's suspension tuning.

Due out this November, it has a 3.5 litre 190kw V6 engine with fuel at a low 9.9 litres, it's both powerful and frugal. With Toyota's bulletproof reliablity you can't go wrong.
Im prity sure its 200kw... 204kw on Premium Unleaded :uhhuh:

It really does embaress Holden and Ford though... theyve been in the big 6cyl game for how long yet Toyota have been able to generate a car that despite having a smaller engine has more power than the Holdens 3.6L engine and even worse more than a 4L Ford engine!

And although Im not sure of pricing, it will be way better then the Holden at least with its 'standard stability control'.... yeah thanks to a $2k increase in the price of the car. And the base model doesnt even come with alloys, yet they are asking something like $35k I think for it. In an ideal world the Aurion should go very well, it will be faster than the Holden by a long shot and should be faster than the Ford (10kw more, small amount less in torque... but it should also be lighter than the Ford), will offer better fuel economy because its a smaller engine... but I think it wont do extremely well, to many people are caught up with this Australian thing pariciularly Holden supporters when they must realise.... Holden is about as Australia as Daihatsu, apart from them designing a coupla of cars for us, they are General motors, and they use creative marketing like calling their car Holden in Aus or Voxel in da UK etc to fool stupid bogans into thinking the company is not foreign. Although one thing about da Aurion which is crap is its only manual, that will limit its market significantly especially for the TRD Aurion where you have a market of performance type drivers who want manual. And from what I gather, it doesnt even have semi-auto so thats another disappointing element

The TRD Aurion is still something I cant wait for though, 245kw out of a 3.5L Supercharged engine is impressive... and although its certainly not 305kw like the GTS etc, I have a feeling it would give a decent account for itself especially when you consider the heavier weight of something like a 6L V8 GTS engine

Aurion is simply a North American v6 Camry that has had a nose job.

It will be many times better than the Falcon and Commodore. Toyota simply have more resources. I'd hazard a guess that Toyota spent more than a billion dollars on this current generation carry

Spec sheet wise it slaughters the 'falcadores'. A 200kw Lexus v6 and a 6 speed Lexus auto as standard for around, I assume, a grand less than a base VE Commodore that has black plastic door handles and mirrors, optional air con and a space saver spare.

While we are at it, why not a 380? Around 7 to 10k cheaper than a commodore executive. Better drive train than the billion dollar commodore and anywhere between 5 to 8k cheaper than the base commodore that only gets two airbags. Essentially all the commodore has over the 380 is ESP.

If you've actually read about the Aurion, in essence it is a redesigned Camry suited to the Australian market and condition. Toyota however still hopes people will by it, even though it is front wheel drive and currently has not plans to be released as a manual. =\ In the end, we need to see how it'll compare to Falcon and Commodore.

In the first pic, the nose looks like mazda3 IMO... and I think they stole the 3rd gen Euro's wheels =.=

Actually, the more I look at it, the more I think it's a rip of the Accord Euro... chrome doorhandles, chrome around the windows, indicators on the side mirrors, the chrome nose is similar, the ridges on the bonnet...

Actually I dont know...

But if the Aurion is a "redesigned Camry", what's the point of putting them both in Australia around the same time... I've only seen one new Camry, and apparently the Aurion is coming out next month? That puts buyers in a stupid position =.=

EDIT:
Oh okay.. I understand now.. the new Camry only comes in 4cyl, whereas the Aurion only comes in 6cyl... hmm...

'redesigned' = the aurion is essentially the ASEAN region Camry with some mild suspension changes.
Here are some 'aurions' (nee ASEAN region camry) on a Thai dock, I believe.

Toyota sales predictions are well below falcon and commodore. They know they can't outsell them, and it will have nothing to do with the quality of product. It's all to do with Aussie parochialism and people believing it seriously helps to have rear wheel drive.

tw is Taiwan isn't it? The Toyota Aurion is being sold in China as the Toyota Camry. I know this because I did a google on the Aurion a week ago and found a link to the Chinese Toyota website.

I looks like something but it isn't the Mazda 3 or the Honda Accord Euro.

Lol, those features aernt found on any cars but the Accord Euro aye?

It looks similar to alot of cars... but alot of manufacturers are heading down this path, like the new Commodore has similarities with the Falcon... I think its because with such large investments its safer to be conservative then to go all out and make a statement.

As for the Camry and Aurion, as somone already noted its 6cyl instead of 4cyl... it does share similarities with the Camry though, the roof, doors and some other part are all identical to the camry to reduce costs. Which is a good thing when you need to repair these parts!

Yeah, because they aernt putting a V8 in they have gone for the supercharger to compete against the XR8 etc (Which if it has 245kw... should be able to compete prity well with considering the XR8 I think is only 260kw with a heavy V8 engine)

We all know the Ford Falcon XR6T goes harder than the XR8 anyways.

Yeah I think people who get XR8's are prity dumb... less power, worse fuel efficiency. The only benefit is the sound of a big V8.

As for the TRD Aurion, I was just reading about it...supposedly its EXCLUSIVE to Australia.

EDIT:

Also has pedal operated handbrake like Mercedes', interior seems heaps classy as well. Also has headlights which look around corners... so when you turn steering wheel lights follow
