d/dx(tanx)=sec^x

and my friend you can always ask questions it is not a problem and i am sorry if i have made you confused. i have written an example of implicit differentiation

e.g. lny=x
1/y*dy/dx=1
dy/dx=y
but y=e^x
hence dy/dx=e^x

hmmm.. do you have any 3 unit book? It's pretty common... If you can't find anything, I'll explain it later (i'm really stressed now with studying for stupid trials, you probably wont understand anyway) :(

because when yu type it sometimes happens i forgot to put Sec^2b in my dy/dx so you need to have dy/dx=something*1/sec^2b

I apologise for the mistake that i have done.

If you don't mind please explain these again. What are subsidary angles? For Question 2, I actually can't interpret the first line properly, but I tried it. Is this correct? (see attachment)

I only have Couchman's book for 3 Unit because that's what my school can afford to give...:( Can I find it there?...

PS: Somehow my internet connection is so slow... can't even upload 70kb pdf file... always time out... after almost 1 hour... tell me if this upload is corrupted.

Does anyone know how to do this, it's from '04 cssa:
Q8 (b) The number x and the real number @ are such that x + 1/x = 2cos@. Use mathematical induction to show that xn + 1/xn = 2cosn@ for all positive integers n > 2.

The trick (with out me having actually done the question) is to realise that x can be a complex number. Just thinking about it, why not just prove deMoivre's theorem for complex numbers, and then since add xn=cos n@ and its conjugate which are true by induction.

i also looked at the solution of the previous guy.

it is good but it is incomplete because he uses s(n): x+1/x=2cos(n@) to show that x/x^k+x^k/x=2cos((k-1)@)

but i think in order to get full mark you should have a proof similar to mine and also we need to indicate that r=modulus=1

but basically his proof is the same

I don't know if it was a typo or not, but I couldn't manage to derive the expression for the volume in Q6 a) i).

well i have done most of my school years in IRAN and you need to be very quick in Mathematics and even you are not allowed to use any scientific calculator, you need to memorise standard table of integration and also some of the valuse of trigonometric identities that is why i am so bad in writing.

but clear writing is a big benefit which you have and I do not...

I am jelous of you...!
