yeah that $220 a week on the pension is so much better than the average wage of $1000 a week. I wish a had a serious psychiatirc problem.
Yeah well if the choice was between earning $25000 a year and working in some shit job and not having to go to work you might think differently.

of course i would. can u blame ppl for not wanting to work in shit jobs for $25k a year?
No but it doesn't mean they should expect to scam the taxpayer through getting a disability pension when they are capable of working.

Yeah I am. I can see some psychiatric conditions stopping people from working but I would like to know what conditions approximately 125000 people have to get the disability pension? Surely the fact that you can get the pension means they have less incentive to overcome their psychological problems?
Wouldn't physical disabilities be apart of that?

If you don't know how can you know? Sounds like a pretty stupid statement to me.

Having not spoken to every single one of them I can only assume... but based on my observations and the people I do know in that situation the only thing I can think of is that they are stupid.

Is there another reason why someone would make bad choices? ....maybe because they want to be poor?

Well then you do know.

I don't know, but you know, so let us in with what you know so we can all know and bask in your knowledge.

Dictionary.com defines Stupidity as : lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind

i define stupidity as You....

This forum is filled with very stupid, narrow minded and pathetic individuals..... quite amazing....

and ill anticipate one response by another stupid person to my statement above as
"Your one of them"
Enough said

What? Let them rot in the streets if they're too 'lazy' to work? Surely if all these mythical people whom just never want to work exist they have SOME sort of a problem, right?
Oi, I rekon if half these fools had the option of
a. dying in the streets
or
b. getting a job
they'd take the latter

Note that my post was in reference to the many 'unemployed' people who claim benefits when they are capable of being employed but choose not to.

Separate note, I know of somebody who got fired from 'work for the dole'. Ha. Useless.

Yeh screw public education and health. Hell get rid of the police force. Let corporations handle policing of their areas. :3 We'll sell of natural monopolies the government owns as well. That'll go down well.

Your pure capitalism isn't very good as it lacks thought. :3

cause that's how you solve all psychological problems. post traumatic stress? all you need is a kick in the pants. obsessive compulsive disorder? you're just not trying hard enough. anorexic? go get a job. bipolar? harden the fuck up.
and i wont even get into the multitude of disorders that mean you can't work because you pose an OHS risk to your workmates.

So you're suggesting that someone with OCD or someone who's anorexic should receive the disability pension?

i'm not suggesting, i'm stating facts. of the approx 175,000 people on benifits for psychological disabilities there is a significant number with anorexia or severe OCD, though most of them probably also receive benefits through their carer receiving a pension rather than directly claiming the disability pension. amounts to the same thing though, and i have on problem with it.
