The highest it has been is 93, and the lowest in recent years was that 85 mark

so to get in and be safe get about 92 i'd say. You would be very unlucky to miss out if it went up by more than that.

it wont drop down to 85 again. that was because in 2005 uai's dropped overall. there was less people who got into the 90s i think.

Oh reallly...so 05 was a bad year or they marked them hard?
UAI cut-off is based on the calibre of the candidature who applied the course or that's what I have heard.

But how would that lower cutoffs since the UAI is a rank.

it's not a pure rank, ie: the number of people who attain 100 varies

uumm yes i know that uai is a rank. but if i said that less people got in the 90s that means the range of available uai's to fill courses would also fall. and if the average uai or let us say demand...of the last person who wanted to economics at unsw was 91, then that would be the uai for the course.

ChockoRepublic go back and read the newspapers. they marked it especially hard that year.

I thought the amount of peoples who received a certain 'rank' is in relation to the overall amount of people in your grade that is doing the HSC? So that's why the amount of 100's each year is different...

it is dependant on the amount of people who would have done the hsc had they continued from the school certificate. therefore if there were more people from the school certificate progressing through the hsc as well, it becomes more competitive to achieve the higher uai's.

Nice pink signature, hypocrite.

If you're dead set on doing 2 non-econ majors, just transfer to a BComm after your first year, as long as you get a high C avg you should be fine (and 1st year BComm/BEco is the easiest of all first year undergrad degrees!).
