i go to a 20th ranked school [caringbah selective high] & in my half yearlies, i went so bad. i put way too much pressure on myself and kind of burnt out because of over-stressing.

my results were

chem - 51/70, don't know ranks, but heaps and heaps of people got 40 and below. the top few were staggered heaps, highest was 64, then 60 etc.
english - 28/45 as a mark, really bad but my ranks for the other tasks bring me up significantly. [ranks 30/150 and 42/150, went from 94th]
french - 83%, now fourth, should be first.
mx2 - 64%, just horrible in general.
mx1 - 70%, worse than mx2. maths is my best subject and i came top few on both last year ='[.

i know you can't say much without ranks, but i won't know all of them until i get my report, or in the next few weeks as the teachers work it out.

i really need 95, i wanted 98 but i know it's basically unreachable now, is this still possible? i'm stressing about it bigtime.

thanks, i know everyone's over these uai threads, and the non-09ers hate how everyone is stressing but i just need some advice. thanks heaps.

I understand the feeling. Those marks and rank estimations are NOT as bad as you think. 98 is in no way unnattainable. These assessments so far were worth what, like 15%, combined with 15% for the first assessments you had. This is 15% only of each subject in HSC terms. The trial is the real decider for ranks etc. and the HSC exam you shouldn't underestimate in terms of what it can do for you if you do well. Basically, don't stress - there is definitely room for improvement, but the fact that you acknowledge this means you're more likely to act on it than some ignorant student that says "meh, I beat a lot of people". Continue to aim high, and let this be a motivator for you to improve :)

Edit: The fact that you go to Caringbah (beat my school Tech by miles) is beneficial too, and just goes to show that you haven't done so poorly after all.

Basically, no you can't get 95 now. I'm so sick of these UAI threads, always with delusional, slightly paranoid people trying to get free advice from us, the smart folk. Pay up next time, you sad sack.

Uhhh...sarcasm. Or not. Now you don't know where I'm coming from. But you're definitely paranoid. Dangerously so.

you can, with proper application of work etcetc
just do as well in maths as you did before, bump ranks here and there, etc
