ok you know how school is
11 weeks-2 weeks off-10 weeks-2 weeks off ...

well my q is is it the same for uni, or do we go a whole semester without a break?

For USYD:

1st Semester:

Mid semester Break: 9th April-18th April
Stuvac: 14th June-20th June

Semester Break: 5th July- 18th July

2nd semester:

Mid Semester break : 27th Sept- 3rd Oct
Stuvac: 1st Nov-7th Nov

Then Summer Holidays from 21st Nov (i think)


I am assuming it is similar for other UNIs....i think UTS has 3 weeks semester break.

I thought that it couldn't get any worse than last year having a HSC exam around my birthday, oh well

what? only 2 weeks of mid semester holidays??? i thought u get a month of holidays b/w the two semesters.

ah....i had 4 asssignments due first day back after the holidays that time last year...it was so shit....but that was mainly due to bad luck with 2 of the assignments being moved back, so yes you can have assignments in the midsemester break

unless you are doing vet science, i think you are free over summer. i have to do 14 weeks of work placements over summer holidays (over 3 summers though) and hand in my report in 4th year

well, i always thought mid semester breaks were for us to study for the exams- so yeah, u could have assessments.

well that depends
in 1st session last year, my midterms were after the break, and in 2nd session, the midterms were before the break (ie no study time!)
