Hey,
How long is the wait to get onto the eddy avenue bus to UNSW during the morning (before 9)?

Depends on the day, time of semester, etc.

First few weeks, expect around 30 minutes. Then it should slowly die off as less people start coming to uni early.

Semester two is pretty cool. Most likely you'll get on the next bus straight away after the 3rd week.

people loose motivation to come to uni
There's actually a bit of history on why you perceive that to be the reason. Prior to last year, semester 2 lines were just as bad as semester 1. If it wasn't bad at 9am, it was 10x worst at 10am. Whilst people thought it was smart to start at 10am instead of 9am, many people thought that, and so they weren't better off. There was a study done in conjunction with STA of NSW to determine how many extra buses were needed to combat the peak hour passenger issue. As a result, several extra buses were deployed during peak hours. This didn't occur in 2013 or 2012, so for you and 2013ers, it would seem semester 2 dies down when in actual fact, people are getting on buses a lot quicker.

I really don't get why they can't do this for semester one though. Or is it just that semester two is an easier fix than semester one in terms of volumes of people.

No, they began the study in semester 1 for semester 2. It only started last year (therefore there hasn't been a semester 1 yet).

Oh right. So then it should be much, much better from now.
