I enrolled at UNSW for a bachelor of adv science today, but I'm seriously doubting whether it was the right choice. While I've always seen myself going to UNSW, I'm wondering if usyd might be a better fit (semesters, friends going there). While I've already enrolled, if I decide usyd would be better I could withdraw and change my preferences to usyd for the January round. Would it be worth doing this? I honestly have no clue which to choose, but am mostly reconsidering due to trimesters and a lack of friends going to UNSW. For anyone with friends at other unis that don't align in terms of holidays, is this an issue? Thanks in advance

Hi! i've received an offer to study at USYD for B/Science & Advanced Studies (Medical Science) - I haven't enrolled yet as I am expecting to get Pharma med at UNSW. So far from what I've read online and heard from relatives and friends in either unis and in the workforce, USYD seems to have a higher reputation and prestige (this is all subjective though- but USYD does rank higher than QS). I have also heard that USYD is known to be better for science and medical science/medical related subjects, and I also somewhat agree with that, especially after seeing the facilities and Susan Wakil Building at USYD- they have some nice prac rooms etc. Apart from going to UNSW undergrad med, I gather that USYD tends to be where pre-med students study with the aim of getting post grad med (which is also my goal) - but again, this is all just from my perspective.
My reasons for leaning towards USYD:
- Location (UNSW is harder for me to get to) and USYD is kind of in the city
- I like USYD facilities and the Hogwarts building
- Semesters - Especially after the HSC, 4 terms seems like I have more breathing room yk

I am concerned about friends though, since most of my close ones are going to uts or maq and apparently nowadays, its harder to make friends in uni since everyone sticks to existing friend groups.

Anyways, just some things to maybe consider. Take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Occupational Therapy :) Might swap to vetnary medicine next year if im not enjoying it, cuz i missed the cut off for some of the hand-ins this year. wbu?
Mannn that sounds cool. Is OT only offered as a post grad degree tho? I cant find it for undergrad - or maybe im js not looking right. Im also aiming for a med degree hence why im going for either B/Science & Adv Studies (medsci) (already got) or psych honours (pending).
(js graduated btw - class of 2024. I havent enrolled yet but i'm most likely gonna choose USYD)

Team USYD cuz trimesters seem like hell
unrelated but i was talking to a lady who went to sydney girls the other day. She got into physics in oxford and they seem to have a waaayyy shitter system than trimesters from what I heard. Like their mock exams are right before holidays and then the actual ones are right after... meaning you have to study during the break. She mentioned other things, but i couldn't remember.

Man, maybe I should switch. I would be accepted pretty late tho and classes might be full. But I suppose I might as well change my preferences (since my current enrollment would stay, right?) and see if I want to withdraw

yup if you're unsure just put usyd at the top of your preferences, u should get an offer and then if u decide to u can always withdraw from unsw. both unis are really good for science though
also the timetable/classes shouldn't be too bad, especially since you're taking first year courses. these usually have the most people attending so have the most available timeslots, highest enrolment quotas etc. so it should be okay
