xarg, i must agree 100% on what your saying.
in general, IPT is so bludgy, but is bludgyness does not equate to easiness.

i really hope a teacher reads this...

Yeah, It all the IPT teachers/Board of Studies can take a look at all thats been said in this one thread, they'll be able to see the common response about the IPT course.

again, i don't think it's too much material to cover, just that people dont bother putting in the effort and they end up with bad marks and THEN go bitch to the BOS .. either that or the teacher doesn't know how to teach the subject properly, which is very often the case.

and the only subject i actually used every minute of the time given for in my hsc was english .. which is just a scribble-fest
i think there was more than adequate time to do the reading and answer questions in the ipt test

did you want a tissue too?

ipt is so crap at my school, i think im in the same boat as eveyone.
i wanted to be better at computer just to be able to get around them
better and stuff like that, bu evey lesson we get in there and he goes,
ok student do your projects. our project is a huge assessment that
has all the cores and options in one. we dont get tought anything.
about a week before the trials we asked how long till we finished our
course, sir? today he replied. shit.

because we can access our netspace from home via ftp, so all we do
is surf the net and download stuff. usually mp3s to listen to or funny
clips to laugh at, our latest craze is downloading freestyle battle-rap
videos.

im going to fail ipt badly. i wish there was a subject that taugh you
about, fxping, hacking, wingates and proxies. thats what i really need
to know

It would be better if the teacher just told you to read up to a certain page in the book in your own time and then you practiced the actual skills in class. We haven't drawn any of the diagrams on our own and we have hardly done any scenarios in class. That would be more helpful than taking summaries of the book down from the whiteboard.

I agree, IPT was not much help for me as i knew alot of the work we had to learn, the only new stuff that i picked up was UMDIT and COASTPD, if it will be usefull in later life is debatable, but it apears like it is a standard for project work, etc. So IPT isnt a total loss!!

Also i found all the diagrams and things we learnt, that where kind of assumed knowleadge in SDD helped a bit :D

(First post, i love your site and forums, geep up the good work!!, to bad i only found it yersterday though :D

I wonder how many IPT students are gonna be able to handle the responsibilty of even turning up to uni if they cant even see to work a little in class

You might say that now, but not until you do some real IPT exams. Ok I agree, I am extremely guilty of playing games in IPT classes but the point being, I would get a lot more out of it if I decided to sit down and summarise and revise through my books instead.
