And (if you're using Windows Server 2003 for some reason...)

http://microsoft.com/downloads/deta...3A-9F4C-4061-9009-3A212458E92E&displaylang=en

Other OS' affected and their respective patches can be downloaded from anti's post (first URL).

Windows NT 4.0 Server
Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition
Windows 2000
Windows XP 32 bit Edition
Windows XP 64 bit Edition
Windows Server 2003 32 bit Edition
Windows Server 2003 64 bit Edition

Soliah quite rightly stated,
it does not effect 95, 98, 98SE, or ME (play on words there)

Funnily enough, Auto-update would have downloaded critical patches for you (if you had left it on :))

I downloaded this patch about 2 weeks ago, all of my systems were unaffected, yet I've been answering msg's and phone calls from friends all afternoon. (About 10-12 cases to my knowledge, within my circle of mates). :(

unplug your network cable (or dialup: disconnect)
stay offline

assuming you've downloaded both fixblast and ms's "823890-x86-enu..." patch for the correct os,

run fixblast, it'll scan your computer for the worm
once it's detected, it'll clear/delete/remove it as required
then it'll ask you to download "832890" (KB article), which is about 1.2MB,

you'll probably have this file already, so you can just install it from there, and reboot when it says so.

another thing you should do, is to download new virus definitions (if you haven't already) and scan your computer.

running fixblast off the bat, scanning your comp, removing it, installing the patch and restarting works for most people.

I wasn't at school today (no trial exams, physics tomorrow), but I heard that were was an announcement made at school.

I would have loved to be there.
they were warning students not to use the library computers (all running XP) and telling kids not to use the internet at home and all of that, it sounds pretty funny tee-hee :D

Too bad I missed it...
