haha, u underestimate the earning powers of dentists. 70k is first year out of uni. after that it grows exponentially. 90k by year 2, 120k by year 3, by years 4-5 you will be getting about 150-200k (if you work in the public sector). having 200k pa by the age of 28? i doubt you can achieve that with any other degree. not even medicine.

there is even greater potential in private practice. owning ur own practice with 1-2 dentists working for you could fetch you at least half a million a year after u take out the running costs/dentist/receptionist wages. i dont think a commerce or any other degree can get you that much.

Well if you really want to know, managers at the top of their level in the field that i'm going to be working in can expect 200k (more on large scale projects). The manager that i'll be working under for example, was head hunted about 9 months ago from the UK. He's 32. Not yet at the top, but he'd be in the high 100k area.

Who know's though. I could well end up hating the job and the company and jump ship to a different industry/company. Not likely, because i'm in an industry that I have real interest in, and the money prospects whilst no certainty, are a bonus.

Studentleader's right though, anyone making study choices purely motivated by money is a retard. There's plenty of them out there and they don't seem to hide.

of course doing a particular course for money isnt the way to go about it. but the OP asked a question and we gave him some answers. its his choice what he wants to do with his life and he can go learn by himself whether money or interest is more important him.
however, as i mentioned earlier, only the minority make it big in the business/managing field. if you have the ability/motivation then definitely go for that area as you are more likely to make it big. but if you want 99% guaranteed wealth, dentistry is ur best bet. its hard to get in and a boring/depressing job, but hey, w/e floats ur boat.

People don't make billions of dollars without taking risks and being creative.

in NSW the only university that has it as a Undergraduate is Charles Sturt university and the campus is based in Orange...yes it's a bit far but it's worth it....

5 years full time....apply through UAC course number 214738

requirements....ATAR plus an application form which you can download from the Charles Sturt University (CSU), Australia. Excellence in Education and Research. Find a course, Distance education, Study abroad, International students. website and send it to them....but you gotta apply before 30th september and have your application form sent to them by then too......

I'm finishing my final year of B Oral health at newcastle university and to get into dentistry i gotta do GAMSAT and do it in Sydney Uni and it's bloody hard to get into and it's not even that good coz you don't do enough clinical placements to gain experience...if anyone disagrees that's fine but i'm not doing it in sydney....i'm applying for Orange too....

unless you wanna go interstate in Queensland or something which is undergraduate too but you gotta apply through qtac or whatever it's called...

As others have said, choosing your course based on incomes is probably not the best strategy although it is good to have some idea about what you will be doing after uni. The hard truth is that most people who are earning large amounts of money have to dedicate a huge amount of their time and energy into work. Money follows responsibility, specialisation and skill. No doubt someone will have 'heard' that this person makes 150k+ and only works 9-5 but for the 5% of the population who earn over 100k pa they generally work long hours in high stress jobs.

Perhaps you should put some thought into why you want to earn as much money as possible as soon as possible. It won't buy you friends, popularity or happiness. If you find something you love doing and want to dedicate most your life to it then that is great and financial rewards will likely follow you, but all the people who I have known that chose their course based on incomes changed careers within three years.

sure you have to take risks etc. but knowledge gives the foundation for your endeavours.
take bill gates for example, he needed to have base knowledge to create the microsoft operating system. along with that, he took a few risks and it paid off. would be be have been able to create microsoft without education? would he be as successful today if he didnt take risks? answer to both of these is no.

Damn that's low. I think my garbage collector friend made nearly 200k in the first year after graduating.

Also my friend who tutors students and charges $150 per hour made around 200k too, while at uni of course.
