Reverse is the process, of inputting a desired UAI, and selecting a level of aptitude towards each of your subjects, and it outputs what sort of marks you would require to obtain for the HSC to achieve such a desired UAI.

My only question is - how accurate is it?
I was just playing around, and i happened to enter only 9 units (i gave my remaing subjects a '0') and i still managed to end up with a UAI of 95... that's really weird!

the only problem is, if a student doesn't figure out how to guess aligned marks well, they're essentially screwed

That makes me esseentially screwed... what are the aligned marks? ^^"'

It's entirely possible - you generally only need a total of around 400 scaled marks (out of a possible 500 for 10 units, or 450 for 9 units) in order to attain a UAI of 95.

Hahahah very impressive Laz, but why was my UAI 9 points higher in 2001? I know each yr scaling changes but you said they dont change very much at all in a large group?
P.s It was off .5 UAI but then again you cant enclude half marks like exam72 ass77 =75 but in reality its just 74.5 rounded up so is theres a way to enter half marks or are you implementing that in the future? Nice program though

The scaling parameters don't change very much from year to year - but the distributions of aligned HSC marks do. Compare the band percentages in 2001 (where fewer students achieved high marks) to those in 2002 and 2003 (where more students achieved high marks) and you'll see what I mean. It would have been harder to get your 2003 marks back in 2001.

Just type in the mark with a decimal point - e.g. "74.5"
