Re: Uni aspirations.

relax i was just like you wen i was in highschool which was last year.....ahh seems so long ago. best option, if u are good at science go for something with science such as medicine etc. i loved chemistry and i ended up doing a bachelor of applied science, medical radiation science diagnostic radiography. Keep in mind that whichever course u choose to do that you will have more chances of getting a job once you are out of uni. luckily for me there is a deficiency of radiologists and scientists in general which equals a guarenteed job [providing i do well etc.etc]

just relax. you will find out towards the end of the year once you get your UAC book.

Re: Uni aspirations.

Of course, I want to get into the most ridiculous course that's offered, Bachelor of Arts (Advanced)(Honours)/Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery@ USyd. 99.95 + an interview?? Thankfully I have lots of backups. Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) or Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) being the top two.

Who knows what they want to be when they 'Grow Up'?

Recently I posted a thread asking for help or ideas on what I could do when I left school. I got many helpful replies and found that people shared my thoughts.
So what I want to do is start a thread in which Person A can post a reply saying their subjects and a bit about them, then Person B (or C) offers some ideas and insights :).
Discuss.

Re: Who knows what they want to be when they 'Grow Up'?

I'm doing:

Economics
Adv English + Maths
Legal Studies
Biology
PDHPE

I want to do a Bachelors of Commerce (Liberal Studies) at USYD, Majoring in marketing and something else. I want to eventually end up working in marketing for a big firm such as Proctor & Gamble.

If not that, I wouldn't mind working for an international bank doing investment etc.

have you looked into geology and earth science/environmental management related subjects? PM me if you want info, I'm going into my 2nd year of geology and i did all the "resource environmental management" subjects too. The mining boom makes this quite attractive too.
Hope that has given you another area to have a look into.

EDIT - but yes, with the maths you could certainly do *any type* of engineering.

English Advance,
Maths Advance,
Maths Extension 1,
Physics,
Economics,
Business Studies

Looking at Commerce/Engineering double degree, and maybe optometry/medicine if I get high enough a UAI.

I think most would agree these subjects suit what I want to do.

No courses have prerequisites, just assumed knowledge.

Second idea better. First idea, not so great. They test on animals :(

Evilo, I never knew you did environmental stuff!! :O

Subjects in my sig...
(plus picking up Spanish).

I think I want to be a LOTE/ESL secondary school teacher. I don't think a science career is right for me. But I'm so passionate about the environment *sigh*.
