Hey guys,
Ive been realizing that a lot of people are looking towards unsw instead of usyd. Why is this the case? Is there anything bad with usyd?....what are your opinions on it
is unsw>usyd? or usyd>unsw?
especially for things such as the common law/commerce degree
A lot of people that go to USYD are douchebags and their timetabling system is terribad.

A degree in commerce or anything is probably the same whether you go the usyd, unsw or maq, alot of its atomosphere,
some people like sydneys sandstone building and quad, others prefere things about unsw.

Well if we are talking about medicine, then it doesn't really matter if you go to usyd or uws for it because of its job security. Your going to end up in a hospital what so ever...
But for commerce/law, unsw has pretty much the same cut-off as usyd but ive noticed that a lot of people still choose unsw on top of usyd. why is this the case!?
I think that there's just this mentality that UNSW is "better" for business-y courses and USYD is "better" for medicine. Well, that's now I've always thought about it. The real reason is still unknown to me.

You can end this debate by asking the students who attend the two universities.

If they attend UNSW they will say UNSW is the best.

If they attend USyd they will say USyd is the best.

Problem solved.

If any student were to say the uni they don't attend is the best one would probably question their sanity

Just to contextualise your question;

What do you WANT usyd for? Will it get you employment overseas (more likely than other universities), how? It is attempting to internationalise itself. That being said, why not UMelb? Why not Monash? Why not ANU?
Because Usyd and UNSW reside in the same state they are often compared, but when you look at the larger picture, the country, hell even the world, neither really make much of an impact. Goodluck getting a job in any country other than Australia with a specialised degree from either.

There are specific advantages for Usyd I must admit, most namely, the connections one could potentially aquire, this isn't some 'im from usyd we're the best' thing, but if you look at the demographics of the people that attend such a university, they are certainly more affluent, or if not that, ambitious (as per the higher atar require for courses). A lot of people can say the same for UNSW, that's fine, and may certainly be true, both are top universities in Australia.

BUT ultimately either way you slice it, YOU ARE a tiny fish, and the only reprise from that fact is when you're 65 and looking at the wall in your study or office, would you like to see University of Sydney, or another name?

i've heard unsw is better for the science-y subjects and engineering but usyd is better for humanities/arts etc.
