What is the different Girraween High vs Penrith High? (1 Viewer)

I found the same thread back in 2020 but interested if any changes here? Girraween is still a better school for HSC? I didn't mean in term of score itself but more on environment to grow, teachers, facilities, subjects.

in 2020 many suggested Girraween to be slightly better than Penrith but not concrete on what exactly.

Can you guys hint me around this?

i've heard from some of my friends that in terms of socialisation/friendship aspects, girra is a much better school than penrith. also, apparently girra has exams of higher quality, the teachers are better, and the facilities are better as well

and yes, girra performs better in the hsc than penrith

though i have heard penrith offers some niche subjects in y9-y11 including critical thinking, philosophy, etc, but these can't be taken during the hsc

so overall if u have to choose one of these schools, i'll defs recommend girra

penrith is worse trust me, everyone i talk to says girra is much better than penrith
and everyone i know from penrith says how shitty it is and how they wish they could move schools
and ppl that transferred along with me to my new school from girra says how much they miss girra

it’s not the competitiveness or academics i’m struggling with i just feel like o would of been happier at my old school? i feel like i was infatuated with going to a better ranked school i kind of made out my old school to be a lot worse than it rlly is

thats why me and one of my close friends didnt move. we couldve gone better ranked schools but we chilled and despite our school being dog dog dog dog dog shit we did pretty good in the end.

Cant imagine going to some tryhard school with 0 friends and ending my HS experience there. No thanks im good with shitty old comprehensive school just gimme my friends xD

dont be dissapointed lmao. Make the best out of your situation, consider the pros of being in an academically inclined school and make friends with the smart ppl who youll be with to yr 12. Form circles, friends and you'll be just fine.

hahahaha yeah i agree with that now. my hs experience could of been better if i just stayed at my old school, honestly it wasn’t extremely bad as other schools since it was a partial selective but it’s ranked like top 200. ig it’s kinda harder to fit in now given that i am a person with an introverted nature and most ppl have established their own friends group and stuff so it’s a lot harder to kinda make friends.

yeah i rlly wanted to got a better ranked school and i made my old school sound like garbage in terms of academics (i mean, it defs was compared to my current school, but not that bad)
and yeah, in terms of friendships i had sooo many friends in my old school and i was just happier in the social aspect - everyone in my new school is like a whole new species of ppl… and idk, just they are not my type of ppl that i normally would socialise with
i guess i never realised how important my social circle meant for my happiness until i moved school
literally it took me A WHOLE TERM to get into a friend group at my new school and i guess i am much happier now in that aspect, but still… if i went back to my old school, i would literally end the friendship with the ppl at my new school immediately. like i am friends with them for the purpose of having friends, they are not my type of people i would normally surround myself with
warning to anyone moving from like a 200+ ranked school to top 10: expect to be surrounded by a whole new species of ppl and have a whole new social circle which is nothing at all like your old school, and miss your old friends so much as you miss socialising with 200+ ranked type of ppl
ok thanks for listening to my little rant abt how being in a higher-ranked school doesn't necessarily equate to happiness in terms of friendships

honestly i did come to the school for the academics anyways but it would’ve been nice to have a more enjoyable hs experience. i honestly cant wait till i graduate and can go to uni

ig if you r someone who can make friends easily and are extroverted it’ll be a lot easier for u to fit in and stuff but i’m just not that so…
