At the start of year 12, I was hoping for a fairly high atar (95+), however, as of now, due to doing quite poorly in three assessments in term one, I don't know if such a thing is possible anymore, I need help in order to determine what to do, can I still save my ATAR or should I just repeat.

What subject is this?
Don't lose hope, even if your school is telling you to do so.
My school (top 20 selective) nearly destroyed me and made me think I couldn't even get 90 atar.
I smashed externals (hsc) and got 98+ atar (2019).
Were it not for my trash school ranks, I would have got 99+.
I was expecting to get in the 90s and I got a 40 in physics, a 60 in chem and a 70 in English, do I still have a chance?

I mean aren't the first assessments like 1/4 of your internals which is 1/2 of your atar...

What matters more in the end is your school rank, which comes from your year 12 internal assessments.
Take this holidays to patch up any holes from year 11, and get a start on year 12 content.
If you're not good at English, do something about it now. I recommend getting a private tutor as that's what I did. The new syllabus is a lot harder, but you can still memorise and adapt essays (I did and got 92 exam mark). Unfortunately I had faith in my school and left getting an English tutor until late term 1 of my hsc year (term 2 year 12).
Revise any stuff that your school may have sped past in chemistry (cough module 4 for my school)
I didn't do physics so can't speak on that.
You mean internal rank right?

if u were to redo it, how would u have studied better? need tips
It wasn’t about studying, I knew everything, I was well prepared. However, I was tired.
One thing I would do is bloody sleep. I panicked so much before the exam (as it was my first hsc exam), I ended up staying up all night, and drank around 4 energy drinks throughout the night to keep me up.

Due to covid, we now leave school 15mins earlier than usual (so we don’t get out the same time as the other schools), so instead of our exam being 1hr, we got 40mins +5mins reading time, which wasn’t enough honestly.

Now take into consideration both the short amount of time and how exhausted I was, these two factors caused me to have a meltdown the moment I saw the first question and I couldnt understand it. It was so bad my teacher literally had to pull me out of class to calm me down. I wasted 10 fucking mins, had 30 left.

Suprisingly, I was able to finish the exam on the DOT, but because of my limited time, I couldnt look over my answers, hence I made stupid mistakes. I literally got the dependent variable wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️ That’s how tired I was.

Also, another thing I realised was since the exam I took was designing an experiment and then answering the questions on it, the notes I made were very general to fit every scenario that might be given to me, so in two questions, my answer was very general (like how i memoried it), instead of it being specific to that experiment, that’s the other reason why I lost marks.

Overall, considering all the shit I went through that day, I don’t think I did THAT bad, 80% is pretty impressive considering I only had 30minutes.

ALSO ANOTHER TIP- DONT TAKE ENERGY DRINKS PLEASE. I had to go to the doctors because my heart beat preached 145 beats per minute at rest mode. I dont recommend at all, learn from my mistake.

Wow...I never knew energy drinks were that bad. Sorry to hear about that bro...
Personally, coffee works fine for me and definitely helps for early mornings. Wish I wasn't so scared about being addicted when I was doing hsc...
Sticking to coffee from now on, no matter how much I hate the taste lol

Don't worry never give up. I was in the same position but just for english, since I got like 11/20 or something (I forgot) in a 15% english speech then did average/bad in the half yearlies so I was nearly last out of 35ish students. Was worried I wouldn't even get 98 ATAR just because of english and I kept spamming ATAR calculators by putting in like 78 or 82 etc for english. But yeah don't give up, plus you can't hate yourself if you try your hardest.
