Why don't you go home and study, rather than expecting everyone to stop coughing/stop swiping cards/stop listening to music/stop printing too much/stop jumping in the queues etc etc?

Well if I have a single 1 hour lecture on Thursday and Fridays I might as well study at the library as it takes an hour to get to Uni annd another to get home.
Why would I have to be the one to just put up with all the crap that happens in the library.

"Hey look they increased HECS fees, I guess I'll just go home-school myself instead"

The point about the card is that for some people they never seem to read properly. Its not a matter of the noise. People don't have to stop listening to music, I never said that. I dislike the fact that some have the volume up so high that I can hear the lyrics to the song from desks away. I print a lot of my lecture notes, nothing wrong with that, but if you decide to stack print jobs that lead to congestion and delay everyone elses printing then thats not O.K.

Stop jumping queues? Self explanatory.

Re: the first years jumping the queue, do you tell them that there's a line, or do you just give them an evil stare and expect them to understand, and then come on here and have a big cry about it?

To be quite honest I hate it when people say "have a big cry". To attack someone who you don't know and has nothing against you. I'm only expressing my opinions and sorry if I complain but there is no rule against that. Have a cry about Victor Ma? Food prices at Uni? Havent we all. And no I don't give them an evil stare.

And I'd only go into the library to print stuff or to look at books, if I want to study, there are much quieter and more suitable places... There are heaps of tables everywhere that are quieter in the actual library, too, you can't just go up to one of those big groups of desks, you neeed to find one not near huge numbers of people.

It not just areas with lots of people. I always go to the uppermost level which seems to be the quietest but trust me I"ve been to each area of the library it makes no difference how many desks there are o how many people there are. There are just certain individuals that don't respect that some people need silence.

i agree with bscienceboi...it is hard most of the time to study at the library, the only reason i keep goin is coz of the stat books there...othawise id just find an empty classroom (try the E buildings theyve got a few)...some ppl are just so inconsiderate, mobile phones shud b on silent, and ppl shud limit conversations (at least attempt to whisper or something) it is quite irritating, and they could easily talk outside or like get a group study room...

i find non-lyrical or music that you have heard a lot a good way to close yourself from the distractions around you.

ofcourse i live like 15mins drive away from the uni so this isn't advised for people who live an hour away and catch trains and buses. they may aswell stay a while.

even if you knew what i looked like none of you would ever find me. you got more chance of finding bigfoot attending a lecture than finding iwannarock strolling around uni. sightings are extremely rare.

Just because you get to choose your own timetable and class times doesn't mean you can have a perfect day without breaks. I have 9 hours of break from Monday - Wednesday and thats the best I can do. Then I have compulsory classes on Thursday and Friday which I am only at uni for an hour.

hmmmmm seems i've never had a problem making a break free timetable.

and if you guys have some subjects where its impossible to make a break-free timetable then.......

then one semester........i may not be able to create the joy that is the no-break timetable. ahhhhhhhhh what would would i do for those hours where theres just blank space in the slots of my timetable.

i would.........would...........have to venture inside the uni.........and into the bar and what not.......and.......and.........*gulp* "socialise".

wooohoooooooo no breaks!......and monday and friday off to! oh looks like i wont have to deal with these breaks just yet.
