I usually use BIC pens, although I also like gel pens, but they do cost a little more.

Indeed they aren't. Some are extremely light, but I think using a heavy pen forces you to write properly... well, that's been my experience. It's a pain when you're doing maths figures with a heavy pen though~

Do you guys think a heavier pen would disadvantage you when your're writing in an exam? It's just more weight to hold in my opinion.

Depends if you're used to it- for me, it helps me write more legibly so it's an advantage... but even if it's tiring, the practice from using heavier pens enables me to write faster when using a lighter pen... but then I end up running my letters together too much creating a bit of a mess.

I don't care what pen I use, just as long as it doesn't leak everywhere, making my work as messy as it is already... However, I've never used a Faber Castel pen... I tend to go and get Staedtler pens... They aren't so bad! :p

You can get gel ink in dark blue, black, dark green and red - designed for school students!

I'm a righty, so I think they are better.

I just went and bought some Papermate gel ink pens. If I write too small, the writing gets really messy, but larger, and they're very smooth. I likey. :)

I use blue Papermate Kilometricos in my exercise books. I find them to be really light and nice to hold, plus they roll smoothly and generally work very well.

When I'm using thicker paper (like in Visual Arts or D-Tech) I like to use Artline 200 Fine 0.4s - great felt tip pen!

I can't stand thicker, heavier pens - they give me hand cramps :(

LOL He doesn't even write anything, more like he's playing games on his laptop whilst his friend writes all the notes for him to copy later
