best to worst

UNSW , Usyd, UOW, UWS

UNSW and Usyd are roughly equal but I dont like the old sandstone shit, also its longer travel time for me to get thier , and some of the places at Usyd looked like deserted, really dusty shit holes on the open day

I don't think some of these kids realise how hard it is to get into med. And doing a Med Sci degree is pretty dangerous. Cos if you don't get into Grad Med ( and there are that many Med Sci degrees, thus meaning a lot of kids trying for grad med), you'll be stuck with a degree that allows you to only go into research, which I'm sure many people won't like, or don't understand what's involved.

Not to mention the fact that being a surgeon is an incredibly stressful job. Shit long hours, low margin for error, uber stress levels, the emotional toll. The depression rate in doctors is pretty high for a reason. And being a GP would be so much fun! diagnosing colds all day, and writing old men prescriptions for Viagra...

I'm an optimist I know! But seriously I desperately wanted to be a doctor for when I was in primary school, up until year 10, then I realised how unrealistic it can be.

I'll probs be flamed for this.

Oh, and I wonna do B Commerce at UNSW.
I agree with everything you said. The hours are long, the job is extremely stressful, and there is definitely a low margin of error. There is an astronomical amount of competition involved in getting into medicine.

Yet I choose to believe that Medicine is a calling. Sure, there are bound to be loads of people that enter into it naive or for the wrong reasons, but for every one of these people there is another who has researched the job, talked to plenty of people in the profession and feel a genuine draw to being a doctor :)
