i personally feel that maths is the worst subject and should be completely cut out of the syllabus. :)

Definately Maths. i.e. 2unit and above standards (3unit, 4unit)

Honestly, about 98% of the syllabus is irrelevant to us after we leave highschool!!!

Integrals, differentiating, calculus.. its such a waste of time,
in my opinion the subject is just to show how capable you are analytically...

its not directly preparing you for life after school...

general maths on the other hand i believe (as i don't do it) is slighlty more beneficial with the whole financial maths topic etc..

just my two cents worth =)

English is the hardest to study for, because they don't teach you what you need to get full marks. They teach you what you need to get roughly 75%. The rest is something you've gotta develop.

I think calculus's Optimization sub-topic, in 2u is more relevant and valuable to real life than almost the entire General maths course.

I personally think English is the most evil, not because it is more difficult than others, but because people who do not have natural aptitude in the subject are still coerced to do it. (Here, I'm talking about English standard and advanced, not ESL - since ESL is not a hard course.)

Maths is not evil at all because people have choice over whether they wish to do it or not. (This applys to other subjects as well)

You do not need a natural aptitude for english, it is very simple. Regurgitate what you learn in class. Memorise essays you write for class and use them in exams etc.

lol, you don't have to fix every single English mistake in a forum like this.

You need some aptitude to write good essays and compose well-integrated creative writing that flows. Some people will never be able to do that. (not just ESLs) You need original ideas in your writing, which means you will need some ability to think for yourself lol.

And if you are saying that aptitude is not needed for English, are you capable of getting 100% in English for the HSC? Statistically, you are very unlikely to have the ability to obtain a perfect mark in English for the HSC.

You dont need to get a perfect mark though, you just need to do better than most of the rest of your cohort.

English is really, really annoying. And certain parts of Extension 2 Maths (*cough* conics *cough*) are just plain evil.
