what source of information do you tend to go for first? Is there a reason for doing so?
e.g. books, the internet etc

Discuss.

Wikipedia, Google, Sparknotes etc. Don't use books but I might use a textbook.

when i've been given library time in class, i go for the books first. I don't use the internet because i can just go on at home.

- For bibliographies i find books more easier to write up.

- Internet is more convenient.

Books (Encyclopedias) then the net. When it come to research for assignments, I forbid myself from using Wikipedia.

According to my schoolmates, for an SOR assignment, a fair few relied heavily on Wikipedia. Little did they know that the information presented was irrelevant, perhaps false. God knows what happened from there on.

What do you mean by this?
Probably means that Wikipedia should be excluded from your resources - shouldn't even be a last resort.

Wikipedia for a general overview, then specialist online sites usually. Books are nice to cite, but with limited library resources and limited time it can be difficult to find good ones.

Haha stop kidding yourself, it's more than fine for schoolwork. And obviously you shouldn't reference it in uni but depending on the subject it's not going to be harmful to check the wiki page for directions.

Well... I guess not... but often, you get the odd person who defies all the odds and does it.

Articles and Jounals (not from newspapers but from databases)
Actually that's another good source for certain things. With a State Lib Readers Card you can get access to ProQuest and some other good journal databases, which I've used in assignments before.

Depends what subject.
For chemistry assignments I just used the internet, including wikipedia (although I didn't accept any of its information before checking it elsewhere).
For Latin and English, I went straight to the books.
