it's frustrating the shit outta me at 4am in the morning. i read it a long time ago so i don't remember the name.
It's about a dude who is going about his daily life and suddenly these people pop outta nowhere and fall on him (literally) and you find out that the world is just made of of different rooms and he joins em on their mission (i forget what it is). as it continues you run into one of the door/gate builders who built the doors between worlds and they discover like an old city which was one of the builders earlier attempts etc. i'm sure it was a series of 3/4 books.
i know i might not be totally coherent but it's 4am so cut me some slack
