Who else felt they didn't get a mark they deserved?

*sigh* This again...

You have to remember that EE2 is subjective. My teachers were Head EE2 markers as well, but I *still* got a much lower external mark in comparison to my internal mark.

Just because *some* people like it doesn't mean others will. Comical works are not always cut down - I've seen some done before at my high school, and they achieved top bands. Postmodernism, which having a trend of being preferred by the Board, also does not guarentee high marks.

Go for a clerical check, if you like, but otherwise accept what you got and move on. You're not the only one to have a big difference between internal and external marks in the history of EE2, you know.

Oh - and something someone pointed out today. Your internal mark measures the PROCESS. So, it means your teachers thought your process was really good. What they thought of your major work doesn't count, because they're not the ones that mark it.

Your MW is marked externally as a PRODUCT. So whilst you got top marks for the process, the Board obviously didn't think the actual finished product was worthy of the same high marks.

This is life, this is subjectiveness. It's in every nook and cranny of the artistic industry. Sorry dude, but that's the way it is.

Oh my god!! Me soooo too!! >_<;;;

I got over 90's for my assessment marks and all... Internal mark was supposed to be 47/50... but got 40/50 (and I still don't understand why)... while teachers and mates really like my story and all, I only got 34/50 externally... I'm soooo frustrated!!!!

I need a recheck.

I am aware that internal marks are the process, and external are the product - but the product is of a high quality - as confirmed by all the english teachers in my school, who wouldn't have let me submitted it unless it met their high standards. Also, the video has been commended by the professional industry. To have such high marks for process would indicate the product has been thought out and produced methodically, that should result in a mark higher than 25/50

No, no it doesn't.

Your teachers number 3 Your MW may have met THEIR high standards, but that doesn't guarentee everyone else will be convinced of the same. I expect you only got it reviewed by ONE professional - I'm willing to bet that various other professionals would not agree. everyone's got their own opinion.

For what it's worth, both my teachers thought highly of my work. I too had mine critiqued by an industry professional. And I too had a lousy external mark.

But you know what? It happens. This is life, and it will also happen outside of the HSC. If you talk to professionals in the creative/artistic industry, they will tell you how prevalent subjectivity is. Honestly - some people will love your work, some people won't. They're not right or wrong, that's just what they think.

I was sure mine was absolute shite. I came 2nd in my class to a guy who our teacher thought rivalled Shakespeare. I somehow ended up with 47 external and 46 HSC. I don't think that guy got E4. :D Go figure...maybe I'll post mine later, so you guys can see what BS equates to E4.

Doesn't matter. It's still only 5.

Call me "jaded" because I'm a dancer and have been competing at national level for years, but guess what... just because x amount of people love what you do doesn't mean everyone will!!! I've had the crappest adjudication reports from time to time that are an absolute jokes (think the word "nice" repeated 11 times in different ways). all they mean is that the adjudicator didn't like what I did. Fine. Other people - particularly other people whose opinion I respect - do like what I do, so I'm happy.

If you're lucky, the Board may be the only group of people who will ever cut your work down. They are only ONE group of people. Their opinion is NOT some sort of ultimate divine judgement from goodness knows where. But the mark they gave you was the mark they gave you.

Accept it... then get over it! It's completely realistic to think that everyone in the whole entire world will have the same opinion!

Whose opinion is more important to you if you want to do this as a career? The Board of Studies NSW or your friends, family and teachers?

EE2 is subjective... most people know that when they take up the course. In that sense, it is a risk. It's usually an enjoyable risk, but it's still a risk.

EE2 has a notorious history for subjective marking. If it makes you feel better, just remember you're not the only one who's been screwed over by their EE2 marks. Also remember that there are many back ways into university :)

HSC+Subjectiveness = LAME!

I wonder if HSC Markers are like..."nah, this kids mathematic equation doesn't look as nice as that other one...I'll mark him down..."

Like what the fucckk? The system is an absolute piece. It seriously rewards no creativity what so ever...we're all being bred to know money and make money...study maths, business and science and you'll scale well! ;) but not Art or English...they don't matter to this state! :( ...I did my HSC last year and did well so no I am not bitching about my results this year, I just understand how retarded the whole thing is...

I know anyone who has poured their heart into works of art that have been slashed down due to a piss weak scaling system, are sitting their pretty pissed off and dumb founded right now. The whole HSC will change soon enough and you will all be victims of a shitty old curriculum..

Haha I could go on about this but seriously...people have to realise what's going on. Fuucckk the HSC...The thing is ridonculous, scaling system is just out of control stupid. What makes a kid smarter if he's good at maths and you're good at Art? Straight ig'nant maann. Hope you guys still did well though.

Peace.

:( I know.

And I also apologise for being a bit aggressive, there have been about 4 threads on this exact same topic tonight and I'm just getting a bit tired of saying the same things over and over again (I'm obviously loosing patience, and will stop posting very soon :) ). I went through the same thing last year, and while I think I got over it pretty quickly I can remember the feeling of disappointment, both my own and from other EE2 people.

I'll cut the subjectivity rants now, and let you vent if that is your wish - but please do remember that whilst the Board can be truly screwy and stupid in its marking process sometimes (many 04 EE2 students will attest to this, including myself) you can still do VERY well outside of the HSC. Furthermore, there are many many many backways into university. Once you get to wherever you wish to go - Uni or otherwise - you will never worry about your uai or HSC results ever again, I promise! If you're really stressing out, click the link in my sig - it was written by a friend of mine who knows all the back doors to Uni like the back of his hand. :)

While I agree with you completely, you're always going to have two sets of subjects - the subjective and the objective. Eliminating subjective subjects like English and, to a lesser extent, history is an obviously unfeasible option. The best we can possibly strive for are markers who can recognise when a student displays a sound understanding of the subjective course outcomes.

^ yeah exactly bruther...the subjectivity is the beauty of those subjects - the fact that one question or topic can be interpreted in a thousand ways. HOW WICKED IS THAT! I just think like in rational circumstances, subjects that have so much room for agreement/disagreement...there should be some positive scaling, rather than negative. It's ludacrous to think kids are taken down in marks just because they specialise in one field aside from another....To think about it just leaves me puzzled ay haha.

it is like they are trying t make it difficult and find every possible reason to fail or cut people down - maybe they are bored and think 'if i have to suffer, so can they!'

*ok, this is a bit unrealistic, but so is all the nonsense going on too :p*
