So as a part of a speech, we have to consider why belonging is an important concept to explore and how our deeper understanding of Belonging has developed our undertanding of ourselves, our relationships and the way we see the world.

Does anyone have any hints or clues on the above ideas? I'm lost, I honestly do not think it is important, nor has developed my understanding of anything other than the fact I hate Emily Dickinson! But of course I can't write that.

That's a really really broad question ...

You could take belonging as a fundamental aspect of the human condition (that's pretty significant) that can be applied to various parts of life:

Possession of something?

Sense of connection to a place / culture?

Adhering to social norms - willingness to assimilate?

One's bond with others and groups?


Focus on 2-ish ...
