ummm well its been crashing ever since i got it so yeah

no service pack since i got pirated cd key

thinking of installing omega ATi drivers to see if it changes anything

any comments on those? since they are unofficial drivers after all...

Not sure, you can give it a go, it wont kill, since you can boot in via safe mode and use driver roll back and it will restore back to your original set of drivers if anything fucks up *touch wood*

Nobody reads my posts :p

1. Upgrade to Direct X 9.0b
2. Visit Windows Update and download all critical patches
3. Upgrade to Service Pack 1/a if at all possible, or at least download every critical patch available from WU and see if the problem persists.

4. Update your video card reference drivers, but make sure they are official drivers. Do not run the risk of running an untested (or leaked) driver for your graphics card, unless you know what's going on.

5. List your hardware details and configuration, as Winston has said. Preferrably any installed software (legally obtained), as there may be, as I have noted, software conflicts, not to mention any possible hardware conflicts within the system.

Random (unwanted) crashing is usually attributed to one of two things, if not both:

1. Bad RAM
2. Bad video card display drivers/settings.

Try downloading a memory test from www.memtest86.com and have that running overnight. If it's too technical for you, then I suggest you avoid it. (But it's fairly painless)

Remove your current video card drivers and use the ones supplied to you upon purchase. If not, get a hold of official drivers from the manufacturer.
