I haven't used the beta, so I'll get a bit of novelty out of this. :D

Hmmm...doesn't look as nice as 7.5. It looks older than the previous version.

Messenger Plus Live! (Note its not called MSN Plus; thats a different program entirely) should be released within the next few days/weeks.

As an internal plus beta tester i can divulge that the program is comming along nicely. Its a complete recode from scratch; the current beta is feature complete and effectively bug-free. The beta testers just need to check for complete compatibility with the final version of wlm before it is released

HOWEVER, the two msn patches are now avaliable:

Mess Patch: http://www.mess.be/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=download&id=674
A- Patch: http://apatch.ikhost.com/files/index.php?ACT=dl&id=3

The interface is still appalling. While I did know for sometime from some Microsoft blog that the interface was to stay, just having to watch it again and again makes me wonder whether or not Microsoft employs designers with any sense of style at all.
Needs more tired, generic and blatantly shit gradients eh?

What happened to the skins feature for Live Messenger? Did Microsoft decide to take it out of the beta... And can anyone confirm if Yahoo interoperability is actually working?
There has never been a skins feature in any beta afaik. Yahoo interoperability is on its way. We know it is currently implemented on Microsoft's internal build, however there still are a few problems with compatibility they are trying to sort out. The feature should be released as an update sometime soon. It will however be limited to text/display names only (i.e no emoticons, dps etc).

UPDATE:

Within the last few minutes MS released another version of wlm (8.0.0792). This is very unusual coming only 24 hours after the 'final'.

UpDATE 2: After much examination of the internal workings of this new version, it seems that it is enabled for MSNP14, as well as having references to yahoo in its text library. Basically this means that it is capable of Yahoo interoperability. All that is needed is for MS to turn on MSNP14 on the server side.
