well this is my first post so OMG XDD

anyway
i checked the net, including the bos website and cant find the crux of the syllabi for all subjects. (although i could make some sense from the maths one)
even though they have a pedantic overview of what we're gonna achieve, a simple outline of the chapters we're doing would be soo helpful. The board of studies website has this extremely length and 'dodgy' list of 'year 10 outcomes'.
just the names of the chapters we're going to do in year 10 would be sufficient.

thank you =]

p.s. i tried asking my teachers but though all brusquely refer back to the board of studies syllabus. Several attempts to date, and they are REALLY annoyed with me now..
i hope im not asking too much

I'm not entirely sure if these are the exact chapters but I think its roughly like this. I got these from the excel books that i have for the school certificate and just my own knowledge. And because the sc tests both yr 9 and yr 10, i might include some that should already be taught in yr 9. I dont even know if this is what you're looking for...

Science:
- Physics:
The Wave Model (yr 9)
Newton’s Laws of Motion
Electrical Energy
Light Energy (yr 9)
Communications Technology
Nuclear Energy (yr 10)
Nuclear Technology (yr 10)
- The Universe and Planet Earth:
Components of the Universe (yr 9)
Big Bang Theory (yr 9)
Theory of Plate Tectonics (yr 9)
Earth’s Natural Events
- Chemistry:
Atomic Theory (yr 10)
Elements and the Periodic Table (yr 10)
Compounds (yr 10)
Chemical Formulas (yr 10)
Chemical Reactions (yr 10)
Indicators
Energy Resources (yr 10)
Materials Technology
- Biology:
Cell Theory (yr 9)
Body Systems (yr 9)
DNA (yr 10)
Biotechnology
The Theory of Evolution (yr 10)
Ecosystems

History:
- Australia to 1914 (should be yr 9)
- Australia and World War 1 (should be yr 9)
- Australia and World War 2 (should be yr 9)
- Australia in Vietnam War (definitely yr 10)
- Changing rights and freedoms (has to do with aboriginal experience, the women and multiculturalism)(definitely yr 10)
- Power, people and politics in the post-war period (definitely yr 10)
- Australia’s social and cultural history in the post-war period (definitely yr 10)

English:
- it varies i think....no actual "chapters" as such....but i'll list mine
- language of humour
- shakespeare
- australian poetry
- a classic novel/fiction study
- modern drama
- an area of study (whatever the heck that is)
- australian docos

yr 10 Maths (5.3 level..dunno if all schools have that...i think its known as the "advanced" maths...apparently for the "smart" people):
- Quadratic equations
- Probability
- Consumer Arithmetic
- Coordinate Geometry (the parabola)
- Surface area and volume
- Statistics (standard deviation stuff)
- Similarity
- Trigonometry (sine and cosine rule)
- Further Algebra
- Circle Geometry
- Curve Sketching (more parabolas i think)
- Polynomials
- Functions and Logarithms

Geography:
- Investigating Australia's identity
- Changing Australia's environments
- Issues in Australian environments
- Australia in its regional and global context

HOPE THIS HELPS!
(oh and i just noticed....i placed these subjects in order of preference!....lol...)

I

yr 10 Maths
- Circle Geometry
- Curve Sketching (more parabolas i think)
- Polynomials
- Functions and Logarithms
For English: I believe it would be something like:

Poetry: Australian and Modernist poetry (eg. Kath Walker or Robert Frost etc.)
Satire: Frontline (Australian Documentary)
Gothic: Gothic texts...Jane Eyre
Australian: Something Australian
Speeches: I think there's an element about speeches
Shakespeare: That's in there too.

As for the year 10 topics for maths, those topics I've left in will only be taught after the SC, and aren't in the SC.
