By your picks, I mean your favourites, not who you think is going to win.

I'm gonna just stick with 2 categories to kick things off since they're the only ones I'm qualified to give opinion on:

Best Film: I like 'Lost in Translation'. Winner: 'Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Best Actor: I liked Bill Murray just ahead of probable winner Sean Penn

i would like Naomi Watts to win an oscar cos she's worked so hard to get where she is today and she deserves it.

smeh.. I don't think any of the Aussies really deserved to win that much. Certainly not Naomi for 21 Grams because of how much people have raved on about Charlize Theron's 'Monster' (that's a sure bet), and I reckon Peter Weir's 'Master and Commander' was the any Aussies' best effort, but y'know.. I have my doubts with 'Mystic River' and LOTR being so popular

my picks are: best director " cold mountains"
best actor "jude law"
best actress "naomi watts".
not sure about best picture "mystic river" might win. i think Zellweger has chances of winning best supporting actress. and ken watanabe "for last samurai".

last year i guessed all my picks, nicole for best actress, adrien brody(i predicted that he will win 3 months before) roman polanski for best director.

i would love it if johnny depp wins, cos he really did make pirates. but the academy seems very reluctant to give oscars to ppl who don't act in tear-jerking dramas.

Best Picture: Really liked 'Mystic River', but think LOTR is a sure bet

Best Actor: Sean Penn (He deserves an oscar, eventhough this performance wasn't his best. He was amazing in 'I am Sam', and it seems wrong to think of Bill Murray having an oscar and not him. I liked Johnny Depp too)

Best Actress: I think Charlize Theron will win it, but I REALLY love Diane Keaton and think it's so much more impressive to put in an outstanding performance in a comedy rather than a drama. Still, at least she won for 'Annie Hall' all those years ago)

Best Supporting Actor: Tim Robbins, and he SOOOOOOOO deserves it, he was incredible

Best Supporting Actress: Renee Zellweger. There isn't much chance she'll be denied for a third time, and I liked her performance

Best Director: Peter Jackson (how can you deny him?! Plus, Clint Eastwood won in '92)

Best Picture
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Leading Actor
Bill Murray in "Lost in Translation"
(I would really like Johnny Depp to win but I think Bill Murray has this one almost sewed up)

Leading Actress
Charlize Theron in "Monster"

Directing
"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" Peter Jackson

I do think Sofia Coppola has a good chance though.

My picks:

Best Film - LOTR: ROTK
Best Director - Peter Jackson
Best Actress - I would like Naomi Watts to win but Charlize Theron probably will
Best Actor - Sean Penn
Best Supporting Actress - Renee Zellwegger

If Peter Jackson gets beaten for ROTK I will be very very annoyed. He deserves it for this film and for missing out on best director for TT and FOTR. And if ROTK isn't the best movie of the year then the judges are on drugs or something similar.

Beats the hell out of Lord of the frigging Rings that's for sure :D

Anyway Ken Watanabe is a pretty decent bet for Best Supporting Actor... Tim Robbins.. meh, he should've won years ago for Shawshank, Watanabe's performance was better imo
